Because the government contracts nearly all of its construction work to large firms, the qualifications you need to work in a government construction job are similar to those you would need to work at any other contractor or construction firm. However, in addition to your education and work experience, you need to pass FBI and local background checks. In some cases, such as when you are building a school or working overseas, you may need to get vaccinations and pass health inspections. For sensitive military construction, you may need to qualify for clearance as well.
