Job description

SAIC is seeking a Data Operations Manager to serve as the senior technical authority and department leader for data pipeline operations and governance supporting the Defense Readiness Reporting System (DRRS). In this strategic role, you will lead the Data Operations Team, establish operational objectives, manage the full data lifecycle, and ensure data quality and compliance across the organization. You will interact frequently with senior-level customer representatives and business leaders to define data requirements and governance policies, minimizing risk while maximizing data utility. 

This position is fully on-site in Alexandria, VA. 

Responsibilities:

  • Establish operational objectives, policies, and work plans, while leading, mentoring, and delegating assignments to a specialized Data Operations Team.
  • Act as the primary liaison for senior-level customers and leadership, interacting frequently to collect data requirements, prioritize change management, and lead executive and technical briefings.
  • Manage data feeds and requirements from Authoritative Data Sources (ADS), overseeing strategic ingestion and transformation pipelines utilizing Azure Data Factory, Synapse, and SSIS packages.
  • Enforce data governance standards, quality assurance, metadata cataloging, and data lineage validation to minimize risk and ensure organizational compliance.

  • Oversee the evaluation and measurement of data quality and freshness, ensuring robust root-cause analysis processes are in place so that all ingested data is acceptable to Data Consumers.
  • Guide the strategic architecture, development, and continuous optimization of data feeds to improve delivery efficiency, system performance, and pipeline scalability as data is ingested into DRRS.
  • Apply strong analytical and problem-solving skills to foster a collaborative environment, effectively bridging the gap between technical execution teams, business stakeholders, and senior leadership.

  • U.S. citizenship and an active Secret clearance
  • Bachelors and eighteen (8) years or more of related experience; Masters and sixteen (16) years or more experience PhD or JD and thirteen (13) years or more experience. 
  • Proven experience in senior leadership and overseeing data operations or DevOps policies for enterprise production data pipelines.
  • Strong understanding of data pipelines, data lakes, and relational databases in cloud environments (preferably Azure).
  • Familiarity with readiness reporting, classified data handling, and the Defense Readiness Reporting System (DRRS) is highly desirable.
  • Desired certifications (e.g., Security+, AZ-900: Microsoft Azure Fundamentals, AZ-104: Microsoft Azure Administrator) are a plus.
