Minimum qualifications:
  • High School Diploma, GED, Technical Secondary School, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Ability to communicate in English fluently to understand and execute instruction and learn via training documentations and presentations.
  • Live within 50 miles proximity of Midlothian, TX

Preferred qualifications:
  • Experience with using Google Workspace or similar applications.
  • Knowledge of or interest in working with HVAC, Electrical or Mechanical Systems.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team.
  • Interest in building a career in Data Center Operations.
  • Strong work ethic and a sense of responsibility for completing tasks on time.

About the job
As part of the Data Center team, Facilities Technicians operate, monitor and support physical facilities conditions that house our global computing infrastructure for Google products and services. Some of these duties will include heating and cooling of air and water, power supply, generators, UPS systems, electrical distribution and control and monitoring systems. You regularly help inspect, maintain and repair various data center systems such as piping and non-critical electrical or mechanical system components. You provide daily assistance to senior technicians as you read blueprints/schematics, conduct tours of systems and assess their working order.
As a participant of the Facilities Technician Developmental Program, you help inspect, maintain and repair various data center systems under direct day-to-day supervision from your manager or more senior team members. You will impact the work group via personal accuracy, timeliness, and turning in quality work. As you are new to the profession, you are starting to ask questions around data center processes, tools, and procedures in order to learn the technical skill sets required to progress in your role. You also engage in community contributions to improve and sustain our culture and operations making Google a better place to work.
The Data Center team designs and operates some of the most sophisticated electrical and HVAC systems in the world. We are an upbeat, creative, team-oriented group of engineers committed to building and operating powerful data centers.
Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
US: $73500 - $101000 (USD) 15% bonus target

Responsibilities
  • Shadow technicians as they inspect, maintain, and repair various data center systems such as piping and mechanical system components.
  • Perform basic maintenance and repair tasks, and identify problems to address routine issues by following prescribed procedures under supervision of more senior technicians.
  • Use a defined approach to complete subtasks, under direct, day-to-day guidance from a manager or senior team members. Exchange basic information and knowledge within your own team or functional area, when relevant to the task.
  • Complete theoretical modules of the program.
  • Impact the work group via personal accuracy, timeliness, and quality of work. Ask questions around data center operations, maintenance, processes, and procedures.
