Gilliatte General Contractors, Inc. looking for an experienced Facilities Maintenance Technician. Your 5+ years of experience in commercial and / or residential construction will serve you well! Experience with metal studs and drywall hanging is a plus! This position works in variable locations, mostly in the Indianapolis Metro area; however travel outside of Indianapolis may be required. A Valid Drivers License is required along with the ability to pass an MVR.


Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Inspects and identifies equipment in need of repair.
  • Troubleshoots issues to determine necessary repairs.
  • Plans repair work using buildings blueprints or equipment manuals as needed.
  • Performs general repairs that do not require a specialized technician. Examples may include repairing drywall, painting, plumbing, appliances, light electrical, and repairing doors and other building fixtures.
  • Performs routine maintenance on building systems.
  • Cleans and assists with upkeep of the facilities.
  • Orders supplies and materials needed for repairs and maintenance.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
Requirements:

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Ability to follow instructions from supervisors or senior maintenance workers.
  • Knowledge of general carpentry and repair.
  • Experience in apartment maintenance or facilities maintenance strongly preferred.
  • Ability to use hand tools and power tools.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Valid driverโ€™s license. Must be able to pass a Moving Vehicle Report
  • You may be required to pass a background check

Education and Experience:

  • 5+ years of related experience in either the commercial or residential fields.
  • On-the-job training offered.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods standing and walking.
  • Must be physically able to climb ladders, bend, or crawl into awkward spaces.
  • Must be able to lift 60 pounds at a time.
