Workers’ Compensation Attorney

Location: Bronx, NY
Salary: $200,000+ depending on experience
Position: Full-Time In-Office

About the Firm

A well-established plaintiff-side law firm is seeking an experienced Workers’ Compensation Attorney to join its Bronx office. The firm is dedicated to advocating for injured workers and providing strong, personalized representation throughout the workers’ compensation process.

Position Overview

The ideal candidate will have substantial experience representing injured workers in New York Workers’ Compensation matters and be comfortable managing cases independently from initial intake through resolution. This attorney will work directly with clients, appear before the Workers’ Compensation Board, negotiate with carriers and opposing counsel, and develop effective strategies to maximize benefits and recovery for clients.

Spanish fluency is required due to the firm’s substantial Spanish-speaking client base.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a caseload of plaintiff-side New York Workers’ Compensation matters from inception through resolution.
  • Represent injured workers at Workers’ Compensation Board hearings and conferences.
  • Prepare and present cases involving workplace injuries, occupational illnesses, permanency, schedule loss of use, medical treatment, and lost wages.
  • Review medical records and evaluate the impact of injuries on clients’ ability to work.
  • Negotiate with insurance carriers and defense counsel regarding benefits and case resolution.
  • Develop case strategy and advise clients regarding their rights and available benefits.
  • Communicate regularly with clients and provide clear, compassionate legal guidance.
  • Prepare pleadings, motions, applications, appeals, and other necessary legal documents.
  • Collaborate with support staff and medical professionals to develop strong cases.
  • Maintain accurate case files and ensure all deadlines and procedural requirements are met.

Qualifications

  • J.D. from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the New York Bar in good standing.
  • Significant experience handling plaintiff-side Workers’ Compensation matters in New York.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently manage a substantial caseload.
  • Strong hearing, negotiation, legal writing, and advocacy skills.
  • Fluent Spanish language skills required.
  • Excellent interpersonal and client-management abilities.
  • Strong knowledge of New York Workers’ Compensation law and Workers’ Compensation Board procedures.
  • Trial/hearing experience strongly preferred.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, client-focused environment.
