VML is hiring a Freelance Program Director to oversee end to end social and commerce program delivery for a large CPG company in a client-facing capacity. You have a proven track record of managing delivery of social channel content as well as commerce marketing programs across various retailers with the ability to scale as needed.ย
Requirements, must have:ย
Local to Chicagoย office, must be in office 3-4x a week. Clients are on-site.ย

Agile Ways of Working + PI Planning: we work in partnership with the client in sprints and plan work on a 4-6 week basis at 1 week increments.ย
What You'll Do:ย
- Peopleย | Partner with Account leadsย to provideย ongoing client satisfaction.ย You'llย oversee the development of integrated project and program deliverables across teams and agency partners, handling concurrent workstreams for multiple retailers across North America.ย
- Processย | Establish and maintain project and program communications. Oversee project estimations and staffing recommendations, while implementing new processes across large workstreams. Ensure calendars and deployment schedules areย maintainedย for multiple operating units globally. Leverage AI where possible toย optimizeย delivery and efficiency.ย
- Financialsย | Responsible for project profitability. Plan, track, and approve project expenses, billing, and invoices. Partner with the finance team to develop a consistent profitability andย utilizationย view across all workstreams. Manage resource allocation on an ongoing, weekly basis, andย monitorย project burn rates, budgets, and reconciliations.ย
- Workย | Drive projects forward from point A to point B, ensuring excellent andย timelyย delivery. Provide purpose, direction, and motivation to the team.ย You'llย be a champion for the work and internal project team by taking notes, following up, building timelines and plans, etc.ย You'llย also build slides, create compelling stories, and manage comprehensive documentation.ย

What You'll Need:ย
- 5-7+ years of experience in a PMO organization and delivery management, ideally within an agency setting.ย
- Social and commerce program delivery experience preferred, with a background in CPG brands and omnichannel programs.ย
- Experience working with integrated agency teams and external partner agencies.ย
- Familiarity with Smartsheet, Excel, Monday.com, Workday, and Jira. Experience with Workfront or Proof HQ is a plus.ย
- Interestย in AI and how toย leverageย it as a delivery tool.ย
- Strong project management operations skillset, including effective meeting management and capturing actionable next steps.ย
- Ability to prioritize tasks, navigate challenges, and build operational rigor.ย
This is an hourly freelance role with an ideal hourly target rate of between $70 - $90 per hour
