Job description

Planner

SSFM is a locally rooted engineering and planning firm that has supported Hawaiʻi’s growth for more than 65 years. What began with four structural engineers has grown into a multidisciplinary team delivering impactful, community‑focused work across the Pacific.

Pay

Salary Range: $70,000 – $100,000 per year, depending on experience.

What You’ll Do

  • Conduct research and prepare planning documents, reports, studies, and permit applications
  • Support land use, community, and infrastructure planning projects
  • Assist with stakeholder coordination and agency communication
  • Prepare layouts, planning graphics, and data analyses (GIS experience helpful)
  • Contribute to proposals, presentations, and internal project documentation

What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Planning, Geography, Public Administration, Architecture, Engineering, or related field
  • 3+ years of professional planning experience, ideally in Hawaiʻi
  • Strong technical writing, analytical, and communication skills
  • Familiarity with Hawaiʻi planning, zoning, and entitlement processes
  • Ability to meet deadlines, manage tasks, and collaborate effectively
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office; GIS experience preferred
