Job description

The part-time (approximately 14 hours per week, 35 weeks per year) Culinary Lab Assistant is responsible for but not limited to inventory management, stock rotation, washing, cleaning, and sanitizing all cooking and food preparation tools and surfaces.
The Lab Assistant will maintain and assist with daily perishable and non-perishable delivery and inventory management, answering and taking telephone messages, pre and post classroom setups as well as perform any other reasonable related task or job assigned by culinary arts area coordinator or chef instructor.
The Lab Assistant will also be accountable and responsible for kitchens and storerooms areas security while on duty when chef instructor or area coordinator is not present.
The position requires the ability to work independently, communicate effectively with students and faculty, and perform physical tasks associated with kitchen lab operations, including lifting up to 50lbs.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • High School Diploma and three (3) years of work experience.
  • Ability to lift and move materials and equipment up to 50lbs.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time and perform frequent bending and lifting.

PREFEREED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Associate's degree
  • Experience in the food service industry
  • ServSafe certification

HOURLY RATE $20.2135 - $21.6284 (commensurate with experience)

Employment with the College will require successful completion of background check(s) and a pre-placement physical in accordance with College's policies.
