Fleet Learning Program Manager

Virgin Voyages

Plantation, FL • On-site

Job description

The Gig:
The Fleet Learning Program Manager is the execution engine for Virgin Voyages' shipboard learning programs. This role builds, deploys, and ensures the quality of onboarding, operational and service learning programs across the fleet. This role works through and actively develops the shipboard training team (T&D Managers and Service & Operational Excellence Managers) to drive consistent, high-quality learning delivery on every ship.
Partnering closely with operational leaders, shipboard learning teams, Quality Assurance, and Talent Development, the Fleet Learning Program Manager ensures learning programs are operationally relevant, consistently delivered, and continuously improved to drive crew performance and elevate the Sailor experience.
This gig is based at VVHQ - our swanky Virgin Voyages Head Office in Plantation, FL where we follow a hybrid work environment. We can't wait to 'sea' you in person during our Collaboration Days, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, while you enjoy Mondays and Fridays' as remote days.
What You'll Be Up To:
Fleet Program Development
  • Builds role-specific onboarding programs, operational skill frameworks, and service capability programs for hotel, F&B, culinary, housekeeping, and Sailor Services departments.
  • Designs position-based learning journeys that are shipboard-ready - practical, operationally grounded, and deliverable by T&Ds, SOEMs, and departmental trainers without heavy facilitation support.
  • Partners closely with shipboard Quality Assurance, operational leaders, and Talent Development to identify performance gaps and translate insights into targeted capability-building programs.
  • Manages multiple program workstreams simultaneously from design through deployment; tracks progress and reports to Sr. Manager, Crew & Leadership Growth.

Fleet Learning Deployment & Activation
  • Develops fleet-wide deployment frameworks: communication plans, Elevate-based delivery structures, facilitator preparation materials, and reinforcement tools.
  • Partners with Shipboard T&D Managers, Service Training Managers to plan, coordinate, and execute learning initiatives across the fleet.
  • Establishes structured reporting mechanisms to track learning program adoption, progress, and operational impact across ships

Learning Delivery Consistency & Standards
  • Conducts structured quarterly visits to all four ships to observe training sessions, coach T&D and SOEM delivery practice, and assess fidelity to program design.
  • Establishes facilitation standards for key shipboard programs; ensures consistent delivery across ships and identifies where delivery is drifting from design intent.
  • Identifies patterns across the fleet - what's working, what's varying, and what's driving the gaps - and translates observations into program improvements and targeted coaching plans.
  • Builds practical review and observation tools that make quality assessment consistent, repeatable, and useful to People Directors and ship leadership.
  • Responds to delivery breakdowns as they surface - conducts rapid discovery, identifies root cause, and implements corrections.

Training Manager Development
  • Provides ongoing professional development and facilitation coaching to T&D Managers and SOEMs across the fleet.
  • Identifies capability gaps across the training team and designs targeted development interventions: coaching sprints, peer learning sessions, structured feedback cycles.
  • Supports training managers onboard in building and sustaining departmental trainer networks on their ships - helping identify, develop, and maintain department-level trainers using a Train the Trainer (TTT) model.
  • Maintains a development view of each training manager across the fleet; shares regular assessments with People Directors and the Sr. Manager, Crew & Leadership Growth.

Stakeholder Partnership
  • Works closely with People Directors to align on training manager development priorities, flag performance concerns, and ensure programs fit the operational reality of each ship.
  • Builds relationships with shipboard GMs and department heads to maintain credibility, gather on-the-ground insight, and ensure learning priorities connect to operational performance.
  • Collaborates with QA, Talent Development, and the instructional design team to align program design with fleet-wide capability priorities.
  • Brings field intelligence back to L&G leadership: surfaces what the ships need, what the data is showing, and what should inform the program roadmap.

Superpowers Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in Learning & Development, Hospitality Management, Human Resources, Education, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Master's degree in a related field preferred.
  • 6-8 years of progressive experience in learning & development, operational training, capability development, or talent development within a complex operational or service-driven environment.
  • Demonstrated experience designing and implementing role-based training programs or capability-building initiatives that improve performance and operational outcomes.
  • Experience deploying learning programs across multiple locations or operational environments (e.g., fleet operations, hospitality operations, multi-site organizations, or global teams).
  • Proven success leading end-to-end learning initiatives, including program design, deployment planning, stakeholder alignment, and measurement of impact.
  • Ability to translate operational performance data, quality assurance insights, and feedback into targeted capability development programs.
  • Ability to analyze learning metrics and operational data to assess program effectiveness and inform continuous improvement.
  • Strong understanding of adult learning principles, behavior change, and capability development methodologies.
  • Experience coaching learning facilitators, trainers, or operational leaders to strengthen program delivery and facilitation effectiveness.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex initiatives involving multiple partners, including learning design teams, operational leaders, and quality assurance groups.
  • Strong facilitation and presentation skills, with the ability to engage diverse, global audiences.
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.
  • Strong relationship-building skills and the ability to establish credibility with operational leaders and shipboard learning teams.
  • High level of adaptability and comfort operating in fast-paced, evolving environments.
  • Ability to travel internationally up to 35% to support shipboard learning initiatives, observe training delivery, and partner with shipboard learning leaders across the fleet.
