Job description

Fleet Manager

Location: Inver Grove Heights, MN

Company: River Heights Outdoor Solutions

River Heights Outdoor Solutions, one of the premier landscape companies in the Twin Cities, is looking for an experienced Fleet Manager to keep our trucks, trailers, and equipment field-ready year-round.

This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who takes pride in a well-run shop and a fleet that never lets the field down. You'll own fleet readiness, vendor relationships, budget management, and safety compliance — and may direct the day-to-day work of a mechanic or mechanic assistant. If you know how to keep equipment running, manage a budget, and lead a small team, we want to talk to you.

What You'll Do

  • Oversee the day-to-day readiness, allocation, and safe operation of all company vehicles, trailers, and fleet assets
  • Maintain accurate records of vehicle usage, inspections, maintenance schedules, and repair history
  • Monitor fleet condition and proactively identify repair, replacement, and upgrade needs
  • Use GPS/telematics and inspection tools (Whip Around, Lynxup) to track fleet assets and driver inspections
  • Lead evaluation and purchase of new vehicles, trailers, and landscape/snow equipment
  • Manage seasonal changeover planning for salt trucks, skids, plow trucks, and snow equipment
  • Develop and manage the fleet and equipment maintenance budget, and negotiate vendor pricing and service agreements
  • Maintain inventory of spare parts, tools, fluids, and shop supplies
  • Oversee shop organization, cleanliness, and safety compliance
  • Direct and coordinate the daily work of a mechanic or mechanic assistant, as applicable
  • Communicate fleet status and repair timelines to field managers, foremen, and leadership

What You Bring

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's degree or technical certification in automotive technology, fleet management, or a related field preferred
  • Proven experience in fleet management, operations coordination, or a related supervisory role
  • Strong knowledge of vehicle and equipment systems, maintenance planning, and vendor management
  • Experience with fleet tracking and inspection tools such as Whip Around and Lynxup preferred
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, seasonal environment
  • Ability to develop and manage budgets and make cost-effective decisions
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with drivers, mechanics, vendors, and leadership
  • Valid driver's license required
  • Available for overtime, evenings, weekends, or on-call response based on seasonal demands or weather events

Why Join River Heights Outdoor Solutions?

We invest in the people who keep our operation running. You'll have real ownership over fleet performance and shop operations, direct collaboration with field and executive leadership, and the opportunity to build out a growing fleet program.

  • Competitive pay based on experience
  • Year-round employment
  • 401(k) with company match
  • Medical insurance
  • Opportunities for career growth
