Job Title: Certified Scrub/Surgical Technologist
Job Location: Pagosa Springs, CO 
Job Type: Contract

Job Description:

  • The Surgical Technologist works directly with a surgeon and the Peri-Operative RNs. The Surgical Technologist assists the surgeons during gastroenterology endoscopy, operative and invasive procedures with a working knowledge of sterile and aseptic technique.
  • The Surgical Technologist assures the operating suite is adequately prepared and maintained for procedures.
  • The employee monitors the inventory of surgical instruments and supplies. The technologist is also responsible for the cleaning, disinfection, reprocessing and sterilization of surgical instruments.
  • The Certified Surgical Technologist may act in an assistant scrub role under the direct supervision of the surgeon commiserate with experience.
  • The surgical technologist in the first scrub role handles the instruments, supplies, and equipment necessary during the surgical procedure.
  • The technologist has an understanding of the procedure being performed and anticipates the needs of the surgeon.
  • The employee has the necessary knowledge and ability to ensure quality patient care during the operative procedure and is constantly on vigil for maintenance of the sterile field.
  • The surgical technologist in the second scrub role assists the surgeon and/or surgical assistant during the operative procedure by carrying out tasks including sponging, suctioning, cutting suture, holding retractors and manipulating the endoscopic camera. This role is distinct from that of the first scrub and surgical first assistant.
