Job description

Job Responsibilities
ย ย ย ย Monthly collection, preprocessing, and analysis of all cost and usage data for Hearst companies across three major cloud providers: AWS, Azure, and GCP
ย ย ย ย Lead monthly business reviews with Hearst-owned companies to ensure teams fully understand their cloud consumption and their options for optimization
ย ย ย ย Ensure strong working relationships with other areas of the business contributing to the delivery of service to customers, notably DevOps, architecture, product management, development, and support
ย ย ย ย Develop and maintain dashboards to provide visibility into cloud spend and trends for various audiences (technical, financial, and executive) to consume throughout Hearst
ย ย ย ย Configuration and enhancement of Hearst's cloud cost management software platform and ad-hoc cost analysis where necessary
ย ย ย ย Alignment with and support of Hearst cloud migration efforts through the creation of business cases and cloud cost estimates
ย ย ย ย Implement FinOps best practices, standards and automation
ย ย ย ย Analyze large amounts of information to discover trends and patterns
ย ย ย ย Present information using data visualization techniques
ย ย ย ย Collaborate with engineering and product development teams
ย ย ย ย Ensure support for a culture of continuous improvement, including identifying areas for potentially improved automation and feeding back to relevant teams
Experience Required
ย ย ย ย 2+ years hands-on experience in cloud financial management, cloud operations and data analysis, including tools for cost exploring and optimizationย 
ย ย ย ย Excellent interpersonal, communications and presentation skills, with an ability to communicate in non-technical terms to non-technical people
ย ย ย ย Strong analytical and spreadsheet skills with the ability to use data mining to extract information from data sets and identify correlations and patterns
ย ย ย ย Strong knowledge of public cloud services and cost for at least one of three major cloud providers (AWS, Azure, and GCP), with certification preferred
ย ย ย ย Self-starter mindset with the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
ย ย ย ย Experience working in large organizations on enterprise-scale projects
ย ย ย ย Experience using Generative AI to enhance personal efficiency and productivity
Essential and Desirable Skills
ย ย ย ย Microsoft Excel with advanced skills working with Pivot Tables and complex formulas
ย ย ย ย Knowledge of FinOps principles (FinOps Foundation certification a plus)
ย ย ย ย Experience with business intelligence tools such as PowerBI or Tableauย 
ย ย ย ย Problem-solving mindset
ย ย ย ย Strong statistics and algebra math skills
ย ย ย ย Build predictive models and machine-learning algorithms
ย ย ย ย Ability to read or write scripts in one or more modern scripting or programming languages: R, SQL, Python, Scala, Java, C++, Ruby, PowerShell, Go
Educational Requirements
ย ย ย ย BS/BA degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or relevant industry experience
ย ย ย ย Cloud Certifications preferred
ย ย ย ย FinOps Certification preferred
