Dow Jones Newswires is seeking a Dutch Financial Translator to join their growing team of linguists and be a key player in ensuring its accuracy while constantly monitoring the quality of their auto-translation model.

The successful candidate will assess and improve the translation from English to Dutch of Dow Jones Newswires financial, business, and economic news.

The job holder will be expected to demonstrate strong skills in prompt engineering and experience building glossaries to improve translation consistencies and outcomes.

Located at our office in London, Brussels, or the Netherlands, this role offers a 3-day-per-week hybrid schedule. While initially a fixed-term contract, there is strong potential for transition into a permanent position.

You Will:

  • Lead R&D and QA initiatives for our English-to-Dutch machine translation engine, vetting data strategy results and performing daily output audits.

  • Define and implement correction policies to ensure Dutch products meet the rigorous standards of Dow Jones editorial excellence.

  • Architect and maintain comprehensive glossaries that anchor our AI in accurate financial and economic terminology.

  • Engineer and iterate on prompts to continuously evolve the style, tone, and technical accuracy of automated news feeds.

  • Partner with global stakeholders across Product, Editorial, and Data Strategy teams to drive workflow efficiencies and share best practices.

  • Map third-party content to expand and enrich our Dutch-language market offering.

  • Modernize content generation by translating and refining automated templates that power real-time financial updates.

You Have:

  • Native-level mastery of Dutch (C2) with a deep understanding of European business etiquette and cultural nuances.

  • Proven expertise in LQA and MTPE (Machine Translation Post-Editing), with a track record of improving automated outputs.

  • Technical proficiency with CAT tools, specifically in building, importing, and managing complex terminology databases.

  • A specialist's command of financial terminology, with the ability to translate complex economic concepts accurately from English to Dutch.

  • Hands-on experience with GenAI and LLMs, including a foundational understanding of how prompt engineering influences model behavior.

  • A background in professional newsrooms or high-pressure editorial environments (strongly preferred).
