Vice President of Finance

Location: Onsite in Grand Rapids, MI
Base Salary: 200,000-220,000

Our client is a growing, privately held, mid‑sized global organization seeking an experienced Vice President of Finance to lead and evolve their financial function. This role will serve as a key strategic partner to executive leadership, overseeing all financial operations while building scalable processes to support continued growth, profitability, and international expansion.

Vice President of Finance Position Overview

The Vice President of Finance will have full ownership of the company’s financial strategy, planning, and reporting activities. This individual will lead accounting, FP&A, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis while ensuring strong governance, controls, and compliance across domestic and international operations. The ideal candidate brings hands-on leadership experience in a complex, global environment and thrives in a results-driven, operational setting.

Key Responsibilities for Vice President of Finance
  • Provide strategic financial leadership to the executive team, supporting long-term growth, margin expansion, and operational excellence
  • Oversee all accounting and finance functions, including general ledger, month-end close, financial reporting, and audits
  • Build, lead, and scale a robust FP&A function, including budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and KPI development
  • Own the financial modeling process to support strategic initiatives, capital investments, pricing, and growth strategies
  • Partner cross-functionally with operations, supply chain, sourcing, and commercial teams to drive informed decision-making
  • Manage internal and external financial stakeholders, including auditors, banking partners, tax advisors, and external service providers
  • Lead the development and execution of annual budgets and rolling forecasts across multiple business units and geographies
  • Ensure strong internal controls, compliance, and financial discipline throughout the organization
  • Support international operations, including global consolidations, currency considerations, and cross-border financial management
  • Act as a trusted leader and mentor, developing and strengthening the finance and accounting team
Qualifications & Experience for Vice President of Finance Role
  • 15+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience, including senior-level ownership of financial operations
  • 5+ years of people leadership experience, managing and developing high-performing finance teams
  • Extensive experience with budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning & analysis (FP&A)
  • Strong financial modeling experience supporting strategic and operational decisions
  • Demonstrated experience managing internal and external financial reporting, audits, and stakeholder relationships
  • Proven background in a mid-sized organization or similar scale and complexity
  • International / global business experience, including multi-entity and multi-currency environments
  • Experience tied to global sourcing and supply chain finance, partnering closely with operations and procurement
  • Ability to operate both strategically and hands-on in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; CPA or MBA preferred
