On-Site IT Support Technician

Location: Raleigh, NC

Job Summary

Technical Source is seeking a motivated, professional, and service-oriented IT Support Technician to provide hands-on technical support at a local school and our Raleigh home office. This individual must have strong networking and systems knowledge, PC troubleshooting experience, and the ability to work independently with teachers, staff, students, and other end users.

The ideal candidate combines technical expertise with excellent communication and people skills. They should be comfortable diagnosing problems, explaining solutions clearly, managing priorities, and representing the company professionally at the customer's location.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide first-level, in-person technical support at the assigned school site and Raleigh home office.
  • Respond to and resolve helpdesk tickets involving hardware, software, systems, user access, and network connectivity.
  • Diagnose and resolve PC, desktop, laptop, tablet, printer issues.
  • Audit returns and check for damaged equipment.
  • Troubleshoot wired and wireless network connectivity issues.
  • Support Microsoft 365 applications, accounts, permissions, and common user issues.
  • Administer and troubleshoot Active Directory, including user accounts, passwords, permissions, and group access.
  • Assist teachers, staff, and students with login issues, application support, and general technology questions.
  • Set up, configure, deploy, and maintain new devices, peripherals, and classroom technology.
  • Support audiovisual equipment and other classroom technology.
  • Work independently with end users while delivering patient, professional, and responsive customer service.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of tickets, repairs, resolutions, and service updates.
  • Ensure all technology and support activities comply with school and company IT policies.

Required Qualifications

  • Strong networking knowledge and experience troubleshooting connectivity issues.
  • Hands-on PC hardware and software troubleshooting experience.
  • Strong understanding of computer systems, operating systems, and common business applications.
  • Experience supporting Microsoft 365.
  • Experience working with Active Directory.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and customer-service skills.
  • Professional demeanor and the ability to work effectively with teachers, staff, students, and other end users.
  • Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and follow issues through resolution.
  • Ability to explain technical information clearly to nontechnical users.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting both cloud-based and on-premises Active Directory environments.
  • Previous experience providing IT support in a school or educational environment.
  • Experience supporting classroom technology and audiovisual equipment.
  • Familiarity with ticketing systems and technical documentation.

Schedule

  • Full-time, 40 hours per week.
  • Monday through Thursday: Four hours on-site at the customer's Raleigh location and four hours at the Raleigh home office.
  • Friday: Eight hours at the Raleigh home office.
  • This is a fully on-site position and requires reliable transportation between Raleigh work locations.
