POSITION SUMMARY:  An Events Associate supports the execution of events across the property, including banquets, The Epicenter parties, and The Venue events. This position is responsible for delivering food and beverages, assisting with full event setup and breakdown, executing décor, and providing excellent customer service to guests. This role goes beyond traditional serving duties and includes room preparation, equipment setup, food preparation assistance, and guest interaction throughout all phases of an event. An Event Services Associate maintains professionalism and courtesy for both clients and coworkers while creating a warm and welcoming environment for all guests. This position is a tipped role during applicable service periods. Must be able to work all shifts, including nights, weekends, holidays, early mornings, and special events as needed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

  • Provide assistance to Event Sales Manager and Supervisors during events to ensure a positive guest experience
  • Fully set up events including:
    • Tables, chairs, linens, dishware, flatware, and stemware
    • Pipe and drape, décor, and room layout based on diagrams and BEOs
    • Food prep and table/station setup as required
    • Printing menus or signage for specific events as needed
  • Execute full breakdown of events per specifications on reservations and BEOs, including:
    • Clearing tables, removing trash, and resetting spaces
    • Vacuuming floors and cleaning walls, windows, and mirrors
    • Proper care, movement, and storage of tables, chairs, risers, dance floors, and lecterns
  • Replenishing water and maintaining guest areas as needed
  • Serve food and beverages in the appropriate order and in a timely manner
  • Maintain awareness of departmental expectations to ensure consistency of service standards
  • Adhere to banquet and event service standards and operating procedures
  • Welcome guests and respond to requests in a courteous, professional, and friendly manner
  • Communicate effectively with kitchen staff, Supervisors, and team members regarding timing and service needs
  • Assist in resolving service or order issues promptly and professionally
  • Support a variety of event types including:
    • Banquets and traditional events
    • Epicenter parties and family-oriented events
    • Venue events and additional resort functions
  • Having a positive attitude, communication with Supervisors, team work ethic, following directions accurately, and possessing care for the highest standards of customer service are a must.
  • Demonstrate ability to organize and decorate event spaces with minimal direction with a keen sense of attention to detail
  • Other duties may be assigned

AUTHORITY/SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.   

QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Minimum 18 Years of Age
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience in hotel, restaurant, casino, entertainment, retail or catering environments with a strong emphasis in customer service.
  • Or two (2) to three (3) years in the customer service industry in a fast-paced environment 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

  • Valid driver's license and be insurable by agencies insurance preferred. 
  • Must have or obtain Food Handlers certification upon hire and Responsible Beverage Service (RBS) Alcohol Certificate upon hire. Certifications must be maintained during employment.   

COMPUTER OPERATIONS

  • Basic personal computer skills and InfoGenesis POS operations 

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization. Fluent in Both Written and Spoken English
  • Must be able to read a room set up map and follow those directions to affect the proper set up every time.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

  • Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.

REASONING ABILITY:

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Reliable transportation is a must 
  • Must be able to work with American Indian people and be sensitive to their culture.
  • Comply with all safety policies, practices and procedures. Report all unsafe activities to supervisor and/or Human Resources.
  • Participate in proactive team efforts of Bear River Casino Resort to include all marketing events.
  • AV equipment knowledge is a plus
  • Ability to Work Quickly and as a Team in a Fast-Paced Work Environment
  • Maintain a Positive and Professional Attitude and Appearance 
  • Excellent oral communication skills required.
