Job description

Introduction: The track program focus is to instruct the sport of track and field to all participants (boys and girls) in grades 9 through 12.

Reports to:  Activities Director  

Supervises: Students

Coaching descriptions:

Head Coach - Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Must know and understand the Co-curricular Handbook and any Board policies associated with Co-curricular activities
  • Oversee / organize practices, activities, and schedules
  • Order equipment
  • Complete participant event schedules
  • Responsible for equipment
  • Responsible for student safety
  • Responsible for all mandatory paper work for each student
  • Coaching focus relay teams, sprinters
  • Coach needs to stay after practice or meet until the activity buses leave or until every student has been picked up.
  • Conduct preseason parent meetings.
  • Evaluate assistant coaches within the high school program
  • Facilitate in-season and offseason strength and conditioning program through the school's athletic performance coordinator. 

Assistant Coach Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Must know and understand the Co-Curricular Handbook and any Board policies associated with Co-curricular activities
  • Supervise warm-up / cool-down activities
  • Provide participant progress in coaching focus to head coaches
  • Responsible for equipment
  • Responsible for student safety
  • Assist Head Coach in completion of paper work and data entry
  • Coaching focus jumping events (high, long, and triple), distance events (400, 800, and mile), relays, hurdles, stretching drills, shot put and discus
  • Coach needs to stay after practice or meet until the activity buses leave or until every student has been picked up. 

Season Goals: Major goals of the program are to emphasis the fundamentals for sport of track to the students, with concentration on the different events.  An emphasis is placed on proper stretching techniques.  The framework of exercising and personal commitment is stressed as lifelong goals.  We encourage the participants to be competitive with the opponent as well as with themselves, trying to improve throughout the season.

Certification and Licenses:  WIAA Rules Test Completion form and must have a valid driver's license.

Must have CPR/AED certification and first aid training.

Physical Requirements: Shall complete a physical examination and TB Test as required by Wisconsin Statute.
