Position Overview
Burns & McDonnell is seeking a dynamic and strategic Food & Beverage Business Line Manager to lead and grow our engineering, design, procurement, and construction capabilities for the Food & Beverage Facilities Engineering practice across the Northeast Region. This role is responsible for setting and executing the near- and long-term strategy for a full-service EPC business line, including portfolio development, technical and professional staff leadership, client engagement, and business development. The Business Line Manager will provide executive oversight of project delivery across the full project lifecycle, from planning and design through procurement and construction, while driving innovation, quality, and sustainable growth for our Food & Beverage Facility clients.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Business Planning
  • Define and execute the strategic direction of the Food & Beverage Business Line.
  • Develop and manage a business plan focused on growth, including service expansion, marketing, client retention/acquisition, and team development.
  • Lead financial planning and performance, including sales, revenue, profitability, and overhead budgets.

Business Development & Client Engagement
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities in alignment with regional and national strategies.
  • Lead proposal development, client presentations, contract negotiations, and go/no-go decisions.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships through marketing efforts and project delivery.

Project Execution & Operational Excellence
  • Lead and execute projects for select clients, project types, and level of importance for the business.
  • Oversee project execution to ensure quality, timeliness, and profitability.
  • Serve as project director and quality control leader for key deliverables.
  • Ensure compliance with safety policies and contractual requirements.

Team Leadership & Talent Development
  • Recruit, mentor, and retain top talent aligned with Burns & McDonnell's core values.
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and career development support to project managers and technical staff.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and support staff training initiatives.

Market Intelligence & Industry Engagement
  • Monitor industry trends and conduct competitive analysis to inform strategy.
  • Represent Burns & McDonnell at trade shows, industry events, and networking opportunities.
  • Develop partnerships with consultants, economic development organizations, and other stakeholders.

Qualifications

Education : Bachelor's degree in engineering, architecture, construction, business, or a related field from an accredited program.

Experience : Minimum of
7 years of relevant professional experience in business development, marketing, or sales within the A/E/C or manufacturing industry, with a strong preference for Food & Beverage sector experience.
  • Demonstrated success in strategic planning, client engagement, and team leadership.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to present complex information clearly.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Experience developing and delivering training or presentations related to business development and proposal strategy.

Compensation
$120,000.00-350,000.00 Yearly
The expected compensation range for this position is displayed in compliance with all local/state regulations. The expected compensation range for this position is based on a number of factors, including but not limited to: individual education, qualifications, prior work experience and work location. The total annual compensation package will consist of a base salary and eligibility to participate in our discretionary year-end incentive bonus program.
