Job description

Manager Environmental Services, Day Shift, Environmental Services
Powers Health is hiring for a full-time manager of environmental services at Community Hospital in Munster, IN.
The manager performs overall routine supervision of the Environmental Services and Linen function as well as at Community Hospital. Provides for the cleanliness of all assigned areas in the hospital. Takes leadership with the supervisors, as well as coordinating activities and responsibilities on all three shifts.
Manager Roles and Responsibilities:
  • Directly responsible for daily activities and quality of work within Environmental Services throughout the day shift, as well as any communication of work activity that would need to be handled on another shift with a supervisor or lead staff.
  • Provides orientation or coordinates the job training for staff on day shift, as well as coordinating those going to one of the off shifts.
  • Able to maintain adequate shift levels of scheduling. Make decisions in staffing needs, priorities and changes to schedules.
  • Serves on appropriate committees and maintains communication to coordinate work efforts within various levels of management. Able to make decisions to improve services in staffing and services.
  • Maintains required reports, evaluations and institutes disciplinary actions in accordance with department and hospital policy.
  • Serves as a role-model in all actions and dealings with employees.
  • Recognizes the importance of the contribution of each individual's work in the organization.
  • Interacts courteously and compassionately with patients, family/significant others, and other employees.
  • Maintains a professional appearance in all organization activities.
  • Projects a positive image in the community.

Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Degree preferred, or 5 years of experience as a Supervisor of Environmental Services at a strong equivalent facility.
