Job description

Responsible for the delivery of respiratory therapy and patient care following physician's orders, hospital policies and procedures; and departmental standards of care and standards of practice.
Responsibilities:
  • Performs therapeutic and diagnostic pulmonary and cardiovascular procedures.
  • Evaluates patient/resident response to respiratory therapy and takes appropriate corrective action.
  • Provides education to patients and staff regarding respiratory procedures, equipment operation, and safety precautions.
  • Performs routine maintenance and service checks on equipment.
  • Maintains records, reports, and other documentation related to the work.

Requirements for a Respiratory Therapist Registered:
  • Associate degree in a Respiratory Therapist Educational Program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP). Bachelors degree preferred.
  • Current state licensure as a respiratory therapist.
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) through the NBRC.
  • BLS certification.

NOTE: Respiratory Interns, Graduates, or Certified, qualifications may vary see below:
  • Enrolled or graduate of an A.M.A. approved respiratory care education and training program (or equivalent), who is awaiting successful completion of either the NBRC Entry Level: Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) or Advanced Practitioner: Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) and state examinations. Employee must become credentialed and licensed during the first year of employment.
