Position Concept

SIGN-ON BONUSES FOR NEW HIRES

FLEET TECHNICIAN I (CIVILIAN).........$5,000

**$2,500 UPON HIRE, AND $2,500 UPON PROBATION COMPLETION**

The Fleet Technician III performs operations, technical and administrative duties for the Fleet Services Bureau.  The Fleet Technician III is a member who possesses all the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities incumbent upon the position of an entry level Fleet Technician II.

The most important and essential job function of the position is attitude which includes the following: interacting positively and cooperating with co-workers, responding politely to customers, working as a team member, functioning under intense time pressure and responding in a positive manner to supervision.

The Fleet Technician III shall perform any other duties and tasks that may be required and shall have the physical, mental and emotional abilities to perform the essential job duties of the position.

Essential Functions

         Supervise inmate workers

         Perform collision damage repair

         Perform shop maintenance

         Utilize diagnostic equipment

         Loan out vehicles

         Perform emergency equipment repair and installation

         Prepare vehicles for release

         Perform welding

         Maintain stock and inventory

         Perform removal of equipment

         Maintain spare units

         Perform maintenance on other equipment

         Function as on call technician

         Process work orders

         Prepares collision damage estimates

         Respond during natural disasters

         Install and remove decals on equipment 

         Work flexible hours

         Perform automotive maintenance and repair 

 

Education, Professional Certification or License

         Must have obtained and maintained the requirements of Fleet Technician II

         Must possess and maintain certifications in the following areas:

  • ASE A1-Engine Repair
  • ASE A4-Suspension and Steering
  • ASE A7-Heating and Air Conditioning

         Must attain sixteen (16) Continuing Education Units (CEUs) on an annual basis through online or classroom instruction

Professional Experience:

Professional Experience

One (1) year as Fleet Technician II or four (4) years documented experience in the automotive or collision repair field
