What You'll Do:
Packaging Operators will perform packaging activities under the company specifications and schedules. Under the direction of the Director of Operations and Packaging Supervisors, this person will help drive Boochcraft toward greater competitiveness and customer satisfaction through improvements in delivery, capacity, yield, and quality. The Packaging Technician is responsible for overall packaging operations which include kegging, canning, and general warehousing. This individual will work as a valuable team member, and the position's focus is on performing packaging activities efficiently, safely, and at the highest quality.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Uphold Boochcraft's company values while representing the Company with enthusiasm and confidence.
  • Ensure a safe workplace by enforcing SOPs and address safety issues as they arise.
  • Maintain a professional work environment that fosters a collaborative team spirit with respect for each individual.
  • Adhere to the Quality Management System and provide inputs toward continually improving its scope and effectiveness.
  • Report any major defects or quality issues to the department lead or supervisor.
  • Work on packaging lines (canning, bottling, and kegging.)
  • Use a forklift to move materials and finished products.
  • Unload packaging materials from pallets.
  • Load finished products onto pallets.
  • Perform package change-overs on equipment as required. Use of hand tools to perform change-overs may be required.
  • Effectively communicate to warehouse personnel any and all goods which will need to be returned back to inventory if / when not used.
  • Follow SOPs to ensure that products are packaged consistently.
  • Works closely with the Packaging Lead to ensure the smooth operation of packaging machinery and equipment.
  • Performs daily start-up and clean in place (CIP) procedures on all assigned packaging stations.
  • Accurately complete and update information forms and logs
  • May manually operate all phases of packaging in the case of machinery failure/maintenance.
  • Embrace continuous improvement.
  • Housekeeping: maintain general housekeeping in all areas of production, including the break rooms and restrooms.
  • This job description is not intended to be all-inclusive. Employees will also perform other reasonably related duties as assigned by the Brewery Supervisors and Direct Operations Manager.
  • Notify Engineering team of equipment malfunction of brewery equipment to minimize unplanned downtime delays. Drive a safe working environment for all brewery personnel by enforcing SOPs and safe work practices and the use of proper PPE.
  • Follow GMP standards for a food production facility. This includes practices such as wearing a hair/beard net, washing hands frequently and sanitizing shoes when entering the production area.

Requirements
What You'll Need:
  • Education: High school diploma or GED
  • Experience: This is an entry level position requiring 0- 6 months of experience working within a production or manufacturing facility. Internal applicants must be employed at Boochcraft for a minimum of 6 months in their respective area, adherence to safety practices, strong attendance record, attention to detail, positive attitude towards work/peers and those who are in good employment standing to be eligible to apply. Since this is an entry level position, any department transfers would be considered as a lateral move.
  • License or Certification: Applicants must be 21 years of age or older with a valid drivers license.
  • Specialized Skills: This person must be able to perform and follow all SOPs and have the ability to be trained and certified for forklift, scissor lift, or company vehicle usage where required.
  • Physical Requirements: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Applicants must be able to perform physical activities which include but are not limited to lifting, bending over, kneeling, twisting, climbing on ladders, stooping, crouching, and routinely lifting up to 50 lbs. and occasionally up to 150 lbs. They may be required to stand for various hours at a time. This person is expected to use/operate latches, hand tools, clamps, hoses, pumps, valves, etc., that will require dexterity, manipulation and hand-eye coordination. Due to varying business needs, this candidate must be able to work anytime within a 1st or 2nd shift window with the occasional overnight and/or weekend coverage. They will be expected to occasionally handle hazardous chemicals.
This position pays $18.75 to $19.50 per hour.
