CloudHQ has state-of-the-art data center sites located in two Northern Virginia locations, as well as London, Frankfurt, Paris, Milan, and Sao Paulo, and we anticipate exponential growth over the next several years both in the US and abroad.



What The Role Entails

CloudHQ is seeking an experienced Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Manager to support active data center construction projects. This on-site, project-based role partners closely with CloudHQ teams, General Contractors (GCs), and subcontractors to ensure compliance with federal and local regulations and CloudHQ EHS standards. The EHS Manager provides oversight of contractor safety performance, verifies effective implementation of corrective actions, and promotes proactive safety programs that protect workers, assets, and schedules throughout all phases of construction.


What You Will Get to Do  

Routinely monitor the General Contractor's (GC) EHS performance to verify compliance with approved EHS plans, policies, procedures, applicable regulatory requirements, and all additional CHQ contractual expectations.

Ensure implementation and enforcement of CHQ EHS standards, including requirements that exceed minimum regulatory obligations.

Support and interface with CHQ Project Management by providing timely, data-driven insights into contractor EHS performance, including trends, incident investigations, metrics, and other key indicators to enable informed decision-making.

Participate in daily EHS field inspections on active data center construction projects alongside the GC's EHS Manager to verify compliance with health, safety, and life-safety requirements.

Partner with and seek guidance from the CHQ Vice President of EHS on regulatory interpretation and application.

Coordinate and participate in the formal review and approval of the GC's EHS plans, policies, and procedures.

Drive a standardized and harmonized EHS approach across the project to improve consistency, efficiency, and effectiveness.

Maintain a working knowledge of NFPA 70E and its application to construction and electrical safety activities.

Support the GC and subcontractors during incident investigations and Root Cause Analyses to ensure effective corrective and preventive actions.

Participate in GC-led EHS communication forums, including all-hands safety meetings and site notices, to ensure consistent dissemination of critical EHS information to the workforce.

Verify that daily joint safety field assessments are conducted by the GC and subcontractor EHS teams, and ensure identified deficiencies are corrected in a timely manner.

Ensure GC Project Management participates in weekly site safety assessments at a minimum.

Participate in the GC's monthly project safety committee meetings.

Participate in monthly project safety leadership committee meetings led jointly by GC and CHQ Project Management.

Collaborate with GC leadership, staff, and contractors at all levels to implement practical and effective safety solutions.

Ensure all EHS KPIs, leading and lagging indicators, and performance data submitted by the GC are accurate, complete, and submitted on time.

Verify that the GC effectively plans and manages high-risk activities, including electrical work, excavation, fall protection, material handling, and crane operations.

Participate in project progress and schedule meetings where EHS considerations may impact scope, sequencing, or execution.

Support and contribute to design reviews throughout the project lifecycle, including planning, design, permitting, construction, commissioning, and handover to operations.

Requirements

Minimum of five (5) years of construction experience, with the majority focused on leading EHS programs for data center and/or heavy industrial construction projects.

Our Ideal Candidate Will Also Possess


Preferred professional safety certification (i.e., Graduate Safety Practitioner [GSP], OSHA 510, Construction Health & Safety Technician [CHST], ASP or CSP Preferred.

Bachelor's Degree from accredited degree program in Occupational Safety & Health, Engineering, or related field of study, and minimum of 5 years of related construction safety experience, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
