Position Summary

The EHS Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and sustaining Gifthealth's environmental, health, and safety programs across multiple facilities. This role ensures full regulatory compliance, leads incident prevention initiatives, and builds a culture where safety is a shared value embedded in daily operations. The EHS Manager serves as the primary EHS resource for site leadership and front-line employees alike, partnering across teams to keep people safe and operations compliant.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, implement, and maintain EHS programs, policies, and procedures across all Gifthealth sites, ensuring consistency while accommodating site-specific operational requirements.
  • Conduct regular site audits, walk-throughs, and hazard assessments to identify risks and drive timely corrective actions.
  • Lead incident and near-miss investigations using structured root cause analysis methodologies; prepare thorough written reports and track corrective actions to completion.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable OSHA, EPA, DOT, and state and local regulatory requirements; maintain all required records, logs, and reports including OSHA 300/300A.
  • Develop and deliver safety training programs tailored to specific roles and sites; ensure training completion across all locations and shifts.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact during regulatory inspections, third-party audits, and insurance reviews.
  • Maintain and continuously improve emergency response plans, evacuation procedures, and crisis protocols for all facilities.
  • Partner with site managers, operations, HR, and facilities teams to integrate EHS requirements into daily workflows and capital planning.
  • Track and report leading and lagging safety indicators (TRIR, DART, near-miss rates, training completion, audit scores); use data to guide program investment and improvement.
  • Manage PPE programs, chemical inventories, hazardous waste disposal, and environmental permit compliance as applicable.
  • Stay current on regulatory changes across all jurisdictions where Gifthealth operates; communicate updates to relevant teams and update programs accordingly.
Required Qualifications
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in an EHS role, with at least 2 years managing programs across multiple sites or facilities.
  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field; equivalent experience will be considered.
  • OSHA 30-Hour General Industry certification required.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of OSHA 29 CFR 1910 (General Industry) and applicable EPA and state environmental regulations.
  • Experience conducting incident investigations using structured root cause analysis methodologies (5-Why, fishbone, TapRooT, or equivalent).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to produce clear regulatory documentation, training materials, and investigation reports.
  • Ability to travel between Gifthealth sites on a regular basis.
  • Physical ability to conduct site walk-throughs, facility inspections, and emergency response activities.
Preferred Qualifications
  • CSP (Certified Safety Professional), OHST (Occupational Health & Safety Technologist), or CHMM designation.
  • OSHA 500 or 501 Outreach Trainer certification.
  • Experience in specialty pharmacy, healthcare, warehouse, or other regulated industry environments.
  • Familiarity with hazardous drug handling standards (USP 800) and bloodborne pathogen programs.
  • Experience with EHS management system software (Intelex, Cority, SafetyConnect, Safety Reports or similar).
  • Bilingual English/Spanish.
Work Environment

This role operates across multiple Gifthealth facilities and requires regular travel between sites. The EHS Manager will conduct walk-throughs, facility inspections, and training sessions that involve standing, walking, and navigating operational environments. The role may occasionally require response to after-hours incidents or emergencies.

Key Essential Functions 
  • Must be able to stand for at least 4 hours at a time while working
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Must perform repetitive motions for an entire shift: bending, reaching, lifting, scanning.
  • Regular standing, walking, and climbing to inspect facilities
  • Must be able to work onsite for all shifts.
