Job description

At HCA Healthcare, we are committed to caring for patients with purpose and integrity.  We care like family!  The GME Manager is responsible for daily management of all assigned Program Administrators at Summerville Medical Center and will support program development, program accreditation and oversight over all assigned medical education programs.

The GME Manager will provide direct oversight to the team at Summerville Medical Hospital with occasional travel to Trident Medical Center to provide support as needed. At the local level, the GME Manager is responsible for creating and maintaining appropriate business relationships with various service lines and C-Suite personnel to educate and promote GME-related timelines and events. Items such as budgetary matters, GME staffing, and space reservation should be regularly visited topics of conversation with GME Leadership.

DUTIES INCLUDE BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Readiness, Accreditation, and Program Development
  • Supports and monitors assigned resident activities via the program directors and program administrators
  • Management of resident work hours, resident supervision, and evaluation process that meets ACGME requirements
  • Management/Review/Oversight of residency program citations and program action plans to address ACGME citations
  • Facilitation of program letters of agreement for learners. Oversight of inter-institutional affiliation agreements
  • Manage the relationship between facility and divisional GME Office between programs and division GME leadership
  • Manage onboarding and off boarding and necessary training and orientation logistics for residents/fellows and GME staff. Work closely with HR to coordinate facility orientation for incoming trainees.

Management Responsibilities

  •  Supervision of assigned program administrators
  • Support for daily, weekly, and annual program administrator tasks, ensuring timely and accurate resident management suite updates and adherence to GME Annual Calendar
  • Manage program administrator PTO requests
  • Responsible for performance appraisals, discipline, scheduling and any supervisory related
  • Perform all needed evaluations for program administrators.
  • Responsible for orientation of new program administrators
  • Trains, develops and mentors assigned program administrators
  • Assists with GME physician agreements with facility and division leadership
  • Supervise the daily activities of the program administrators to ensure institutional and program guidelines are met

Program Leadership

  • Execute on processes created for efficient pathways into the organization and for external resident rotators to acquire education training in the organization’s computer system
  • Manage documents relative to GMEC meetings and accreditation, and any sub-committees that may evolve

EDUCATION: Required: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Education, Health Care Administration or a related field. Equivalent work experience of 3 years may substitute degree requirement.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Preferred: 2 or more years of HCA GME experience
  • Working knowledge of ERAS, Thalamus and New Innovations is highly desirable

CERTIFICATION/LICENSE: Preferred: C-TAGME certification
