Job description

We are excited to announce that Webdroid is hiring! We are accepting workshop proposals from tech-industry professionals for a new & exciting program for youth in the city of Detroit. Webdroid: Industry Standard, is our new 12-week technology and workforce development series supported by CSforDetroit and the Kapor Foundation and the city of Detroit.


We're selecting 12 technology professionals to join us at the Webdroid storefront, with one featured professional leading programming each week. Rather than asking our speakers to simply talk about their careers, we're asking a more impactful question:


If you had the opportunity to teach 60 Detroit youth and young adults something from your professional experience that could change how they understand technology, or their place within it, what would you teach them?


Selected Industry Standard Speakers will develop one three-hour experience and deliver it twice to separate cohorts of up to 30 participants ages 14–24. We're looking for hands-on, industry-informed experiences across Web Development, Cybersecurity, AI, Unity/3D Design, UI/UX, Tech Entrepreneurship, Digital Content Creation, and Career Readiness.


This is a paid opportunity of up to $1,000 per selected speaker, including $500 for two live sessions(1pm-4pm and 4:30pm-7:30pm), $250 for a prerecorded version of your workshop, and $250 for participation in an Industry Standard interview highlighting you, your work, the program, and the technology that you're presenting.


The initial RFP form below focuses on you, your expertise, and the experience you'd like to create. These workshops will take place on Mondays for 12 weeks starting September 21, 2026, with a projected end date of December 14, 2026. Selected speakers will receive a second onboarding form which will include selected a date that works with your schedule between September 21 and December 14, accommodations, technology needs, dietary restrictions, and other logistics.
