Primary Duties
Job Description:
This position provides students with hands-on experience in cybersecurity by supporting daily security operations, investigating security events, and assisting with incident response. This is an in-person, on-campus position. Student analysts are expected to work from the Student Network Operations Center (SNOC) and must be available to perform their assigned shifts on campus. Remote work is not available for this position.
Responsibilities:
  • Monitor security alerts and investigate suspicious activity.
  • Document and track security incidents, including phishing, compromised accounts, and abuse reports.
  • Assist with threat hunting using SIEM and other security monitoring tools.
  • Help maintain and improve security monitoring and detection tools.
  • Review vulnerability scan results and identify potential security risks.Update security documentation, procedures, and playbooks.
  • Work with SOC staff on incident response and other security projects.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Current University of Cincinnati or University of Xavier student enrolled in a cybersecurity, computer science, information technology, or related program.
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Willingness to learn and work in a team environment.

Co-op employment must be related to some phase of the field of study in which the student is engaged, and diversified to afford a range of experience. Co-op students must meet the enrollment requirement for the entire quarter.
