Position Summary
Responsible for retaining and attracting business from large industrial energy customers. Serves as sales leader in identifying commercial and industrial growth sectors, establishing strategic partnerships and developing customized energy solutions to win new business.
Essential Responsibilities
  • Identifies business growth potential within commercial and industrial (C&I) market sectors and develops strategic plans to attract new businesses within available service territories. Manages the business attraction process including market research, building and maintaining strategic external relationships and developing creative energy solutions.
  • Develops and manages internal and external resources necessary to execute strategic business attraction plans. Collaborates with operating companies account management, community relations, area managers and economic development staff to facilitate customer growth opportunities. Supports business retention and expansion and shares competitive and market intelligence to help grow current customer business. Delivers real estate site certifications that promote speed to market for new customer connections and developments. Administers external engagements to promote service territories.
  • Leads negotiations to secure load and revenue from new customers. Establishes strategic relationships with entities that play critical roles within the business attraction process. Performs in-depth analysis of potential custom solutions for new customer opportunities. Captures potential customer needs by creating targeted sales plans, utilizing the sales tracking system and communicating product and service opportunities for internal competitive use.
  • Develops and implements proactive sales strategies. Manages business retention and expansion processes to generate in-depth analytical research for key accounts and target industry clusters. Tracks prospects activities, event engagement attributes and load growth.
  • Provides recommendations for executive leadership regarding customer prospects and business growth.
  • Anticipates and responds to customer requests for business development information and works with internal and external resources to produce information that differentiates the company from its competition.
  • Conduct analyses of lost opportunities and improve processes for future planning.

Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree with business-related emphasis or combination of education and sales/marketing work experience providing equivalent knowledge.
  • Five years of experience in sales/marketing, account management, or economic development business attraction and retention service.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications and cloud-based data management services.
  • Position requires frequent overnight travel.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Four years of experience handling large high-profile accounts or projects with proven results.
  • Certified Economic Development Professional credentials.
  • Experience in utility communications, energy efficiency program management or public/private real estate development.

The anticipated starting base pay for this position is: $97,600.00 to $138,600.00 per year
