An early childhood director is responsible for the day-to-day operations of a preschool, daycare, or another early childhood program. Responsibilities include staff supervision, meeting with parents, addressing enrollment issues, and signing off on marketing and informational materials for the program or school. Other duties are to encourage social and emotional development through education and interaction. In addition to developing the curriculum, an early childhood director may hire and train new staff and prepare yearly budgets. Qualifications typically include a bachelor’s degree in child development or education and prior experience.
