Overview

Metabolon is seeking an experienced, hands-on Corporate Controller to lead the accounting function.ย This role will report to the Chief Financial Officer and will be responsible for accurate financial reporting, accounting operations, internal controls, and the systems and processes needed to support the company's growth.ย The Corporate Controller will partner with senior leadership and communicate financial results, significant accounting matters, and recommendations to leadership and the Audit Committee of the Board of Directors.

This position is based at Metabolon's headquarters in Morrisville, NC and may be performed onsite full-time or on a hybrid schedule, with Tuesday through Thursday onsite.

Responsibilities
  • Lead accounting operations, including the general ledger, cash management, invoicing, purchasing, accounts payable, and related activities.
  • Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual close and consolidation processes.
  • Prepare consolidated financial statements and related management reporting in accordance with U.S. GAAP.
  • Analyze financial performance and communicate results and key accounting matters to senior management and the Board of Directors.
  • Maintain, improve, and scale accounting systems, policies, processes, and controls to support business growth and reporting needs.
  • Design, implement, and monitor effective internal controls over financial reporting and ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards, laws, and regulatory requirements.
  • Lead the annual external audit process and manage relationships with auditors and other professional service providers.
  • Coordinate with external advisors on federal, state, local, and international tax matters and required tax and regulatory reporting.
  • Oversee international and multi-entity accounting matters and equity plan accounting and financial reporting.
  • Partner with Human Resources on payroll administration, controls, reconciliations, and related accounting matters.
  • Provide accounting guidance to Finance leadership and cross-functional business partners.
  • Recruit, lead, and develop a high-performing accounting team while promoting accountability, operational excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field. MBA a plus.
  • Active Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license.
  • Minimum 10 years of progressive accounting and finance experience, including increasing leadership responsibility.
  • Experience in a professional services or other project-based services organization required. Experience in biotechnology, life sciences, pharmaceutical, or related industry is highly desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, financial reporting, accounting operations, and internal controls.
  • International accounting or multi-entity experience preferred.
  • Experience using Sage Intacct for accounting operations and financial reporting.
  • Demonstrated leadership in close, consolidation, financial statement preparation, and external audit processes.
  • Experience improving and scaling financial systems, accounting processes, and control structures in a growing organization.
  • Experience working with external auditors, tax advisors, and other professional service providers.
  • Experience leading and developing accounting professionals and collaborating across functions.
