Bookkeeper / Assistant Controller / Accounting Manager
Company Overview
AlphaGraphics of Downtown Raleigh is a growing commercial printing and marketing services provider serving businesses throughout the Triangle region. We specialize in marketing collateral, signage, direct mail, graphic design, and print production for a wide range of local and regional clients.
We are seeking a talented and experienced accounting professional to join our team and work closely with our existing Controller. This position is designed as a succession and transition role, with the successful candidate gradually assuming many of the Controllers day-to-day responsibilities as they move into a different capacity.
This unique role offers the opportunity to learn the companys financial systems and operations directly from an experienced Controller while helping maintain and improve the financial processes of a growing production business.
Qualifications

  • Educational Background
  • Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
  • Professional certifications such as CPA or CMA are preferred but not required.

Experience

  • Minimum 35 years of accounting, bookkeeping, or financial management experience.
  • Experience in a small-to-medium sized business environment preferred.
  • Experience in a production, manufacturing, or printing environment is a plus.

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency with accounting software such as QuickBooks.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Ability to learn and utilize the companys MIS (Management Information System) used to track production, costing, and invoicing.

Position Responsibilities

Learning and Development

  • Work closely with the current Controller to gain a comprehensive understanding of the companys accounting practices, systems, and workflows.
  • Gradually assume responsibility for day-to-day accounting functions as part of a planned transition.
Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable

  • Manage accounts receivable and invoicing processes.
  • Monitor aging reports and assist with collections where appropriate.
  • Process and manage accounts payable and vendor payments.
  • Resolve discrepancies in billing or vendor invoices.

Bookkeeping and Financial Recordkeeping

  • Maintain accurate and current financial records.
  • Reconcile bank accounts and credit card statements.
  • Maintain general ledger entries and documentation.
  • Assist with monthly and year-end closing processes.

Payroll and Benefits Administration

  • Process payroll and ensure compliance with payroll tax requirements.
  • Maintain employee payroll records.
  • Assist with administration of employee benefits programs in coordination with the companys HR Manager.
  • Stay informed regarding changes in payroll and benefits regulations.

Financial Reporting

  • Assist with preparation of internal financial reports.
  • Support budgeting and financial planning processes.
  • Provide documentation and support for outside accounting and tax professionals.

Technology and Systems

  • Utilize company accounting and reporting platforms including QuickBooks and Qvinci.
  • Utilize internal MIS and CRM systems to ensure alignment between operational and financial data.
  • Support ongoing improvement of financial processes through effective use of company systems.
Compensation and Location
Salary range: $50,000 $65,000, depending on experience.
This is a full-time, salaried position based at our Garner, North Carolina facility. This position requires in-person attendance and candidates must live within approximately 30 miles of Garner, NC.
