Controller Consultant | Reno, NV | Hybrid

We are seeking an experienced Controller Consultant to join our team in a hybrid capacity supporting clients throughout the Reno, Nevada market. The ideal candidate is based in Reno or within a reasonable commuting distance and brings strong Controller level experience, preferably within construction, manufacturing, or a variety of industries.

This is a hands on consulting role for an accounting professional who enjoys working directly with business owners and leadership teams, improving financial operations, and providing both day to day accounting oversight and higher level financial guidance.

This position is expected to begin on a part time basis, with the opportunity to transition into a full time role as client needs and engagements grow.

Compensation
  • Hourly Rate: $50 to $60 per hour, based on experience
  • Initial part time schedule with the potential to transition to full time based on client demand
  • Hybrid work environment with local client engagement throughout the Reno area
Responsibilities
  • Oversee accounting and financial operations across client engagements, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and compliance with accounting principles and company policies.
  • Manage and support month end and year end close processes, including journal entries, reconciliations, general ledger review, and financial reporting.
  • Prepare and review accurate and timely financial statements, management reports, forecasts, and other financial analyses.
  • Provide practical financial guidance and recommendations to business owners and leadership teams.
  • Develop, improve, and implement accounting policies, procedures, internal controls, and financial processes.
  • Analyze financial performance, identify trends and areas of concern, and recommend opportunities for improvement.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and other financial planning activities.
  • Partner with clients to improve the accuracy, efficiency, and visibility of their accounting and financial operations.
  • Adapt to multiple client environments, accounting systems, industries, and business needs.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to accounting staff when appropriate.
  • Stay current on accounting standards, regulations, and industry best practices.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
  • CPA certification preferred but not required.
  • Proven experience as a Controller, Assistant Controller, Accounting Manager, or similar senior level accounting professional.
  • Experience within construction, manufacturing, or multiple industries strongly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, general ledger accounting, month end close, and internal controls.
  • Experience with budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and financial analysis.
  • Proficiency with accounting software, ERP systems, and Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize responsibilities, and manage multiple client engagements.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with business owners, executives, and accounting teams.
  • Comfortable working in a consulting environment where priorities, industries, and client needs may vary.
