Job description

The Division Controller provides assistance with annual budget, quarterly forecasts, month end close, and financial analysis.  Be a business partner to the Market Area Controller, Market Area Manager, Division Manager, and other Divisional Operations Managers.

Hiring Range: 105k - 125k/year based on experience


  • Assists in cash collection activities working with cash applications and collections personnel to maximize cash flow and help with problem accounts.
  • Executes internal controls and audits of policies and procedures to preserve the facility’s assets and maintains SOX compliance at the operating level within the hauling division.
  • Conducts analysis of division finances and prepares financial reports to assist the management team to facilitate decision making.
  • Completes the accurate preparation of divisional financial statements to ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
  • Assist Market Area Controller, Market Area Manager, and Division Manager with completing the annual budget and quarterly forecasts.
  • Assesses current accounting operations to determine recommendations or solutions for improvement and implementation of new processes.
  • Coordinates with key contributors to streamline budget processing.
  • Managing the accumulation and consolidation of all financial data necessary for accurate accounting and analysis of monthly financial results and offering insights into the results to management.
  • Participates in training and other learning opportunities to expand knowledge of the company, products, sales, and services while performing any other duties needed to help drive our vision, fulfill our mission, and/or abide by our core values.

The successful candidate will have a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting required, 5+ years of accounting/finance experience with strong experience in doing month end close, financial statement analysis, budgeting, and forecasting. Strong knowledge of GAAP required.  Experience working across multiple levels of the organization including Finance, Operations, Fleet Maintenance, and Sales.  Accounting/finance experience in the waste management experience a plus.

Outstanding relationship management skills, excellent listening, communication, and problem-solving skills are required. Strong experience with accounting/financial software, billing systems, and strong excel required.
