Job description

The opportunity

Delaware North Parks and Resorts is hiring a Senior Merchandise Manager (Retail Buyer) in Bozeman, Montana to oversee merchandise strategy and execute buy plans for Yellowstone General Stores in Wyoming. As Senior Merchandise Manager (Retail Buyer) you will manage merchandise planning, product assortments, and buying for a multi-million dollar retail operation including ten brick & mortar locations as well as e-commerce. This position serves as a link between the overarching Parks and Resorts Merchandise Strategy and the location-specific guest experience. This role is a key member of a team determining vendors, programs, and pricing for the Parks and Resorts division.

Pay

Minimum – Anticipated Maximum Base Salary: $68,300 - $92,200 / year

In addition to base salary, we offer an annual bonus plan based on company and individual performance, or a role-based, uncapped sales incentive plan. The advertised pay range represents what we believe at the time of this job posting, that we would be willing to pay for this position. Only in special circumstances, where a candidate has education, training, or experience that far exceeds the requirements for the position, would we consider paying higher than the stated range. What will you do?
  • Lead development of annual merchandise strategies for Yellowstone General Stores by leveraging sales performance, market trends, product innovation, and brand opportunities 
  • Support enterprise retail initiatives through participation in group buys, RFP development, cost negotiations, and pricing strategy execution 
  • Direct merchandise planning for stores and e-commerce channels in partnership with site leadership, clients, and retail teams to align assortments and floor plans 
  • Guide Product Coordinators through financial reviews, business planning, product placement strategies, and execution of retail initiatives 
  • Drive performance across sales, inventory turn, and margin goals through effective assortment, promotional, and markdown strategies 
  • Analyze forecasts and business trends to develop Open to Buy plans and inventory targets that support operational and financial objectives 
  • Manage timely purchase order execution and coordinate with vendors and cross-functional partners to meet seasonal timelines 
  • Champion National Park brand standards by supporting merchandise programs, product training, special events, and client assortment reviews 
  • Ability to drive a company vehicle to property locations
More about you
  • Bachelor’s degree in merchandise, retail, or a business-related field preferred 
  • Minimum of 5 years of retail buying experience, preferably including soft-lines and souvenirs or gifts  
  • Proficiency in Excel   
  • A strong understanding of applicable terms and metrics including Sales, Margin, COGS, OTB, Sell Thru Percents, Turn, Comp Store Analysis, Terms, and Dating 
  • Must possess a valid driver's license
