Job description

London Disability, an Elevate Patient Financial Solutions Company, has an exciting career opportunity available as a Disability Advocate II.
This position will be a remote based role.
The schedule for this full-time role will be working 8-hour shifts between the hours of 8am-6pm, Monday-Friday.
Job Summary
The Disability Advocate II serves as the client liaison with the local SSA District Offices and the State Disability Determination Agencies. The Disability Advocate II interacts with the Nation SSA Tele-service Center to schedule appointments, medical providers, employers, schools, vital records, and other agencies to obtain documentation for the claim, and other facility staff to provide updates of case status. The Disability Advocate II is responsible for completing SSA forms associated with the application process, filing the first and second level appeals timely, tracking claims thru the disability determination process, and communicating requirements and expectations to the client/patient. The Disability Advocate II, under the direction of the Disability Program Manager, assists with training/mentoring of new Disability staff.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Manage a caseload of 125 - 175 claimants ranging in status from APC – Hearing appeal filed.
  • Track and monitor referrals received from associated hospitals and outside sources.
  • Review diagnosis report weekly to identify potential disability candidates.
  • Review referrals for completeness and enter cases into the database at their proper procedural level.
  • Review eligibility accounts prior to return as not disabled.
  • Modify and/or enter status codes and other data entry including comments/progress notes.
  • Update client information, alternate contacts, disabilities, medications, and medical providers in system.
  • Schedule initial appointments to apply for Social Security Disability and Supplemental Security Income benefits.
  • Conduct follow-up to verify that initial applications have been filed; appearance has been entered and update patient information.
  • Reschedule initial applications and submit 1696 and fee agreements to Local SSA office and appropriate DDS offices as necessary.
  • Look critically at case development performed by SSA and complete or supplement case development by making recommendations for Consultative Examinations or other medical evidence of record to be purchased by SSA.
  • Make informed decisions about whether or not to pursue a claim to the next appeal level by weighing medical evidence, Social Security regulations, and other factors.
  • Complete Social Security forms for reconsideration and hearing appeals such as the SSA-561, SSA-3441, and HA-501 for customers in a professional and timely manner.
  • Modify and/or enter status codes and other data entry including comments/progress notes.
  • Answer phone calls from clients regarding status of claim, disability process, and assistance with completing forms such as disability reports, work history questionnaires, ADL questionnaires, pain questionnaires, etc. at the initial and reconsideration level.
  • Generate and interpret reports to complete job functions as needed.
  • Regular and timely attendance.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Requirements
  • Some college or comparable combination of education and experience
  • Superior interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally.
  • Substantive knowledge of the Social Security application process including an understanding of the medical and vocational aspects of disability analysis and the sequential evaluation process.
  • Ability to follow complex instructions and procedures.
  • Ability to manage a caseload and to organize work in a systematic and efficient fashion.
  • Ability to pay close attention to detail.
  • Willingness to work as part of a team.
  • Remote and Hybrid positions require home internet connections that meet the company’s upload and download speed criteria.
