Job description
The Assistant Director of Student Development, Conduct, and Care will report directly to the Director of Student Development, Conduct, and Care and support both Student Conduct and Student Support Services through proactive and developmental forms of community engagement. The Assistant Director will live on campus and serve in the Administrator on Call (AOC) rotation within the Residential Center. The Assistant Director will hire, train and supervise one Graduate Assistant and a team of Student Conduct Assistants who are in place to support the Office as a whole. The Assistant Director will serve as an Administrative Hearing Officer and will also serve as an Administrator for Conduct Board Hearings, assisting in the overall administration and operation of student conduct processes, programs, and services. The Assistant Director will also serve as a key member of the Care Team, supporting the Associate Director of Student Support Services with non-clinical case management and developing preventative programming for the Bentley community based upon identified student needs.
Essential Duties
- Serve in the Administrator on Call (AOC) rotation within the Residential Center, providing a layer of guidance and oversight for the Administrators on Duty (AODs).
- Hire, train, and supervise one Graduate Assistant and a team of Student Conduct Assistants (SCAs), including regular (biweekly, then monthly) one-on-one meetings as well as staff meetings with a focus on student development.
- In conjunction with the Graduate Assistant and student staff, will identify, plan, and produce developmental and preventative programs that support the work of Student Support Services and Student Behavior.
- In conjunction with the Graduate Assistant, plan and provide various forms of community engagement catered to residential students, off-campus students, and graduate students based upon student trends and community needs.
- Serve as an Administrative Hearing Officer for all levels of Conduct cases.
- Attend weekly Weekend Update meetings to review open student and behavioral concerns and support the case management of student behavioral follow-up.
- Support the Associate Director of Student Conduct and Development by serving as an additional Administrator for Conduct Board Hearings.
- Attend weekly Care Team meetings and maintain close communication with Care Team members to coordinate and document Care referral follow-up
- Assist in supportive outreach to students referred to the Care Team or returning to the University after time away
- Manage the harm-reduction support offerings and sanctions within the Office, including but not limited to assigning various online educational courses through Vector Solutions to students and any related follow-up to ensure federal and local compliance.
- Contribute to developing and delivering Student Conduct and Care training for campus constituents including faculty, staff, the Residential Center Professional Staff, Resident Assistants, Student Conduct Assistants, Orientation Leaders, Peer Mentors, Fraternity and Sorority Life groups, athletes, incoming new students and their families, and/or other members of the Bentley community as needed.
- Support collaborative projects with other offices, such as Health and Safety Inspections that are completed semesterly in conjunction with the Residential Center.
- Maintain efficient collaboration and serve as the liaison to the areas of Health, Counseling, and University Police regarding documentations involving student behavioral concerns to ensure best outcomes for students.
- Partner with Student Programs & Engagement staff for organizational matters related to Student Conduct and/or Care, as well as to maintain accurate rosters of student organizations.
- Develop a strong understanding of Advocate software while supporting the Director in the development and expansion of Advocate services, campus trend reports and statistics, data management, and user interface.
- Aid in the review and editing process of the University's Code of Conduct, procedures, and adjudication methods found within the Student Handbook annually by coordinating research and benchmarking other institutions.
- Manage the oversight of social media accounts within the office in collaboration with the Graduation Assistant, as well as the shared website presence for Student Support Services and for Student Conduct.
- Represent the office on university committees and/or task forces as needed.
- Serve as a BentleyPlus advisor by attending role-specific training sessions, facilitating advising sessions, and sending follow-up communications to advisees.
- Support the logistical management and processing of Leave of Absence, Return from Leave, and Transfer/Withdrawal requests.
- Process and complete requests from current or former students for their Student Conduct records, including but not limited to the completion of student transfer paperwork, applications, or other employment requirements.
Minimum Qualifications
- Master's degree required. Masters degree must be conferred by Spring 2026.
- Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in student development, or related areas.
- Thorough understanding and application of principles, concepts, practices, and standards in higher education in general and student development in particular. Able to articulate how student development theory is applicable in a real world setting.
- Possesses strong verbal and written communications skills with the ability to articulate complex matters. Skilled at creating and delivering presentations to large groups (over 100).
- Exhibits effective counseling/advising skills.
- Applies strong interpersonal and analytical skills to creatively develop solutions to issues regarding student conduct.
- Applies and stays current of best practices, resources, and methods in higher education student development.
- The ideal candidate must also possess a commitment to expand knowledge and awareness of diversity, equity, and inclusion, as evidenced through demonstrating self-awareness, understanding and valuing others.
- Demonstrates a strong understanding of short-term goals and operational requirements of Student Development, Conduct and Care and the Division, and their impact on policy, procedure, programs, and practices needs
Work Environment - This position will have an on-call component. On a once-a-month basis, the Assistant Director will act as the departmental administrator on call (AOC) for the entire campus, will carry the AOC mobile phone, and will act as a support for the rest of the on call staff.
- This position is a live-on position and the individual will live in a two bedroom fully furnished apartment.
- Typical office setting with computer work and sitting.
- Ability to travel around campus for work related events, meetings, and duties.

$53,889 - $86,674
