Duties & Responsibilities

Reporting to the Associate Vice President and Dean of Student Advocacy, the Senior Associate Dean and Director of Student Conduct and Academic Integrity (SCAI)servesas a senior leader within the Dean of Student Advocacy Office, providing strategic direction and oversight for all functions of the university’s Student Conduct and Honor Systems. In addition to guiding long term planning and dailyoperations for Student Conduct and Academic Integrity (SCAI), thisrole serves as a member of the Student Affairs Leadership Team(SALT) and participates on divisional and university-widecommittees as assigned. This individual also works closely with theVice President of Student Affairs serving as the campusrepresentative for all matters related to the Office of StudentConduct and Academic Integrity.

The role of the Senior Associate Dean and Director of SCAIencompasses leading innovative and robust strategic planninginitiatives, underpinned by a comprehensive assessment plandesigned to facilitate data-driven and evidence-baseddecision-making. This strategic planning endeavor will culminate inthe formulation of standard operating procedures for the Office ofStudent Conduct and Academic Integrity, delineating the methodologyby which the university administers the Code of Conduct,emphasizing student learning, ethical decision-making, and thepromotion of a positive culture of integrity andaccountability.

Integral to this role is the regular reporting and communication ofmonthly data points directly to the Associate Vice President and Dean of Student Advocacy. Furthermore, when necessary, these datapoints will be shared with key campus stakeholders on a monthlybasis, ensuring transparency, informed decision-making, andfostering a collaborative environment among university leadershipand community members.

The Senior Associate Dean and Director will supervise a dedicatedteam of student conduct professionals who prioritize studentdevelopment and education throughout the conduct process. Theseprofessionals are committed to providing prompt, fair, andimpartial resolutions, balancing both the interests of theindividual student and the larger university community, whilefostering an environment that supports academic achievement andpersonal growth.

The individual in this leadership role must bring deep expertise inStudent Conduct and Academic Integrity, the Clery Act, RestorativeJustice practices, Title IX, and Hazing Education. They areexpected to remain current with evolving local, regional, andnational laws, regulations, and mandates that influence studentconduct administration. Excelling in this capacity requires soundjudgment, the ability to navigate complex and sensitive matters,and the agility to adapt and pivot within a rapidly changingenvironment.

A central component of this role is cultivating strong, effectivecampus collaboration and partnerships across the university. Thisincludes building and sustaining close working relationships withFraternity and Sorority Life, academic units, academic deans, andother key campus stakeholders.
