As the Director, Engineering Repair Process Development you'll provide overall direction to the engineering function through development of engineering policies and procedures consistent with organizational requirements and corporate standards. Direct engineering resources on the business unit in order to efficiently improve the processes, procedures, methods and materials used in the repair and overhaul processes while ensuring product quality is maintained and striving for quality improvements.
What you'll do:
  • Direct strategic business unit engineering activities and resources including supervision and training of personnel, representing engineering and product development functions.
  • Develop and recommend business unit engineering policies and procedures consistent with company and strategic business unit objectives.
  • Coordinate company engineering resources required for the support of strategic business unit objectives
  • Provide management review and control of all engineering work including project development, staff assignment and application of engineering principles throughout the business unit.
  • Facilitate project teams by providing assistance in project planning, application of quality improvement tools, assistance in measures of performance selection, capital asset acquisition, tooling development and assessing training needs.
  • Provide direction to ensure that training and education programs are implemented to increase engineering staff skills and to meet technological change requirements of the engineering function.
  • Audit and review the quality of engineering programs and makes recommendations as appropriate.
  • Analyze existing production methods and recommend modifications necessary to improve and streamline the process.
  • Evaluate new production technology and recommends re-engineering options to improve the economy and quality of products. Coordinate with technical support personnel to conduct prototype runs for products or processes. Review project results and interpret technical trends throughout all areas of the business unit.
  • Implement environmental programs supporting corporate targets. Coordinate internal environmental reporting.
  • Coordinate planning, organization, budgeting, program timing and specifications of all engineering projects and assures timely and high-quality delivery.
  • Direct and coordinate engineering activities designed to improve shop floor practice aimed at reducing non-conformance and improving product quality and reliability.
  • Keep abreast of engineering trends and developments for application in the business unit.
  • Exercise authority in hiring, training, career development, performance appraisal, salary adjustments, promotion, discipline, health, safety and the general employee relations of direct reports.
  • Actively participate in the management team(s), assisting with the development and realization of strategic plans, budgets, goals and outcomes.
  • Carry out special projects as assigned.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
  • 10 or more years of experience in production, manufacturing or process engineering roles, ideally within jet engine components or related fields.
  • 10 or more years of supervisory experience in engineering design, manufacturing or production environment.

Desired Skills:
  • MRO experience, preferably jet engine maintenance.
  • Strong understanding of gas turbine engine theory, performance, repair development, and overhaul processes
  • Thorough knowledge of airworthiness certification requirements and regulatory bodies (TC, CAAC, FAA, etc.)
  • Strong planning, organizational, analytical, leadership, interpersonal, decision making, oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Fully conversant with testing methods and experiment design to meet airworthiness compliance program requirements.
