Director, Learning Strategist
Overview
The Director, Learning Strategist serves as a strategic partner between the Learning & Development (L&D) organization and business units, driving alignment between business goals and enterprise learning strategy. This role is accountable for executing a learning strategy that enables performance, capability development, and organizational growth across the portfolio. Acting as a trusted consultant with a high-level of confidence and executive presence, this individual identifies opportunities where learning can drive measurable impact and ensures delivery of scalable, human-centered, and data-driven learning solutions. This is a hands-on, roll up your sleeves roll that performs strategic consulting while also doing the work, facilitating, and leading a project team.
Responsibilities
Strategic Alignment & Consulting
  • Serve as the primary learning consultant for Sales, translating business strategies into targeted learning solutions that drive performance and growth
  • Align Sales learning strategies to Covetrus' overarching L&D and talent development roadmap, ensuring consistency and enterprise-wide alignment
  • Partner with Sales stakeholders to assess skill gaps, performance challenges, and capability needs, advising when learning is, or is not, the right solution
  • Prioritize learning requests based on business value, impact, and resource availability

Stakeholder Engagement & Communication
  • Build strong, trust-based relationships with Sales stakeholders, subject matter experts, and cross-functional partners across Covetrus
  • Act as the first point of contact for new learning needs as they are raised to L&D from stakeholders
  • Facilitate strategic discussions that influence leadership decisions around learning investments, priorities, and outcomes
  • Communicate progress and impact to the Head of L&D and to stakeholders through data-driven storytelling for each new learning initiative

Learning Architecture, Quality, & Facilitation
  • Responsible for all new-learning initiatives' in-take, defining the learning solution through analysis, building a learning proposal and workshopping the proposal with stakeholders and SMEs
  • Act as product owner, assisting the team in building out the backlog, assigning due dates, estimating time and meeting agreed upon deadlines
  • Roll-up your sleeves and do the work while coaching and upskilling the team to provide exceptional client service and engaging, high-quality learning
  • Champion AI-enabled, innovative learning methods, including blended learning, digital experiences, simulations, and microlearning
  • Upskill the design team in human-centered design, accessibility, and performance consulting methodologies
  • Ensure all learning projects meet established milestones, quality standards, and delivery timelines, holding the team accountable to such
  • Partner with the LMS Administration team to maintain content accuracy, user access, and reporting consistency in the learning management system
  • Facilitate on-site, pre-built "learning in a box" workshops for Sales team members, leveraging your expertise in Sales and master facilitation skills

Measurement & Insights
  • Ensure the design team builds learning around defined success metrics for all new learning programs
  • Accountable for ensuring data is collected, analyzed, and communicated effectively
  • Build and maintain reports that demonstrate learning impact, engagement, and performance outcomes
  • Use insights to continuously improve learning programs and demonstrate business results

Collaboration & Continuous Improvement
  • Partner closely with the Head of L&D to ensure consistency, innovation, and alignment across the enterprise
  • Champion a culture of learning, experimentation, and continuous improvement across the organization
  • Manage competing priorities and ensure all projects meet established milestones and deadlines
  • Stay informed on external learning trends, technologies, and best practices to evolve Covetrus' approach to enterprise learning
  • Promote a culture of curiosity, collaboration, and growth mindset across the organization

Required Knowledge and Skills
  • Demonstrated experience consulting and executing learning strategies that drive measurable business outcomes in a Sales organization
  • Demonstrated experience facilitating
  • Expertise in instructional design, adult learning theory, and learning measurement methodologies
  • Experience managing enterprise learning portfolios and collaborating with executives
  • Strong data storytelling and analytical skills
  • Exceptional relationship-building, communication, and influencing skills
  • Proven ability to lead teams, manage competing priorities, and drive projects to completion

Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Learning & Development, Organizational Development, Human Resources, Education, or related field experience (Master's preferred)
  • 10+ years of experience in L&D or Talent Development, with at least 5 years in a consulting, strategic, or leadership capacity at a Sales organization
