Role Summary:
The Senior Director, Medical Affairs Learning & Development defines and executes Dyne's Medical Affairs learning and capability-building strategy as the organization advances toward commercialization and launch readiness. This role leads the development of integrated training programs that equip Medical Affairs teams to communicate complex science clearly, engage credibly with healthcare professionals and key opinion leaders, and execute Dyne's medical strategy in a compliant, consistent, and impactful manner.Â
The Senior Director partners closely with Medical Affairs leadership, Clinical Development, , Commercial, Legal, Compliance, Quality, and Learning & Development to build scalable training frameworks, curricula, digital learning solutions, and capability programs that support onboarding, launch readiness, and ongoing professional development. This leader ensures Medical Affairs colleagues have the scientific, clinical, disease-state, compliance, communication, and customer engagement capabilities needed to advance Dyne's mission and support patients, care partners, healthcare professionals, and healthcare systems.Â
This role is based in Waltham, MA.Â
Primary Responsibilities Include:Â
Medical Affairs Training Strategy & LeadershipÂ
- Develop and execute Dyne's Medical Affairs training vision, strategy, and multi-year capability roadmapÂ
- Build scalable training frameworks that support organizational growth, launch readiness, field excellence, and evolving Medical Affairs prioritiesÂ
- Partner with Medical Affairs leadership to assess current and future capability needs across medical affairs with a priority of field medical team, Serve as the strategic advisor on adult learning methodologies, scientific education, and field medical capability developmentÂ
- Establish governance, standards, and best practices for Medical Affairs learning, certification, and capability developmentÂ
Medical Field Excellence & MSL DevelopmentÂ
- Design and implement programs that strengthen field medical excellence, strategic account engagement, insight generation, and customer interaction capabilitiesÂ
- Create assessment and certification approaches that promote consistency, quality, and confidence across Medical Affairs interactionsÂ
- Implement coaching, reinforcement, and development frameworks that support sustained field effectivenessÂ
- Support Medical Affairs leadership in establishing competency models and career development pathwaysÂ
- Leverage field insights and performance observations to inform training priorities and continuous improvement opportunitiesÂ
Curriculum Development & Content ManagementÂ
- Lead the design, deployment, and continuous improvement of Medical Affairs curricula across foundational, role-based, launch, and advanced learning needsÂ
- Develop onboarding programs that enable new Medical Affairs colleagues to build scientific acumen and verbal fluency, understand Dyne's ways of working, and reach role readiness quicklyÂ
- Create and maintain disease-state, clinical, scientific, product, competitive intelligence, and healthcare ecosystem training programsÂ
- Develop scientific communication, presentation skills, moderation skills, and compliant medical exchange training that supports high-quality external engagementÂ
- Partner with cross-functional subject matter experts to ensure learning content remains accurate, current, compliant, and aligned with business prioritiesÂ
- Ensure training reflects current clinical data, publications, regulatory developments, competitive context, and Medical Affairs prioritiesÂ
Launch Readiness & Scientific Capability BuildingÂ
- Lead Medical Affairs launch training strategy and execution for current and future product launchesÂ
- Develop launch certification programs that define and measure scientific, compliance, and customer-facing readiness standardsÂ
- Build training programs that enhance scientific storytelling, evidence communication, medical education delivery, and healthcare professional engagementÂ
- Prepare Medical Affairs teams to support advisory boards, congress activities, investigator interactions, publications, and medical education initiatives with scientific credibility and compliance excellenceÂ
- Partner with Medical Affairs leadership to develop advanced learning pathways for high-potential talent and future leaders
Compliance, Quality & Operational ExcellenceÂ
- Ensure Medical Affairs training programs comply with applicable regulatory requirements, company policies, industry standards, and internal compliance expectationsÂ
- Partner with Compliance, Legal, Regulatory Affairs, and Quality Assurance to ensure appropriate governance and documentation of training activitiesÂ
- Oversee learning technologies, training systems, vendors, and external educational partnersÂ
- Establish learning metrics, dashboards, and measurement frameworks to evaluate capability growth, learner experience, and business impactÂ
- Drive continuous improvement through learner feedback, training analytics, competency assessments, and performance outcomesÂ
Cross-Functional CollaborationÂ
- Collaborate with Commercial Training, Learning & Development, Compliance, Medical Affairs, and Clinical Development teams to maximize organizational learning effectivenessÂ
- Align Medical Affairs capability development with broader organizational priorities, enterprise learning strategies, and launch readiness effortsÂ
- Support enterprise-wide education and capability initiatives where scientific, medical, or launch expertise is requiredÂ
- Foster a culture of continuous learning, development, and scientific excellence across Medical AffairsÂ
Education and Skills Requirements:Â
- Advanced scientific or healthcare degree required; PharmD, PhD, MD, DO, DNP, PA, NP, or equivalent preferredÂ
- 15+ years of progressive experience in biopharmaceutical, pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or healthcare organizationsÂ
- Significant experience in Medical Affairs, field medical leadership, Medical Education, training, learning and development, or related functionsÂ
- Demonstrated success designing, implementing, and measuring Medical Affairs or field medical training programsÂ
- Experience supporting product launches and launch readiness initiatives in a regulated biopharmaceutical environmentÂ
- Strong understanding of Medical Affairs functions, including scientific exchange, medical communications, publications, congress strategy, advisory boards, insight generation, and field medical activitiesÂ
- Experience developing and facilitating scientific, clinical, and disease-state educational content Â
- Deep understanding of adult learning principles, instructional design, capability building, change management, and learning measurementÂ
- Strong knowledge of regulatory, compliance, and ethical requirements governing Medical Affairs activities Â
- Demonstrated ability to influence senior leaders, align stakeholders, and build effective cross-functional partnerships in a matrixed environmentÂ
- Exceptional communication, facilitation, presentation, and stakeholder management skills Â
- Strong project management and vendor management experience Â
