The 2028 Games mark the return of the Summer Games to the U.S. for the first time in 32 years and Los Angeles' third time hosting an Olympic Games and first time welcoming the Paralympic Games. Sr. Manager,ย Language Services Workforce Operations:

The Sr. Manager, Language Services Workforce Operations will oversee the strategic planning, deployment, and optimization of the Language Services workforce across all venues (i.e., competition and non-competition venues). This role ensures the right mix of skilled staff and volunteers are available to support interpretation and related services throughout the Games. The position plays a key leadership role in coordinating workforce logistics, volunteer management, scheduling, and operational readiness to meet event demands efficiently and effectively. ย 

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead workforce planning for all Language Services operations across venues.ย 
  • Manage staff planning and oversee volunteer programs forย language support volunteers.ย 
  • Direct volunteer recruitment, vetting, onboarding, and training initiatives.ย 
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional areas includingย press operations,ย protocolย andย NCSย (National Olympic & Paralympic Committee Services).ย 
  • Develop and manage workforce shift plans aligned with competition and venue schedules.ย 
  • Forecast andย allocateย workforce resources based on event timelines and service needs.ย 
  • Oversee workforce deployment in key areas such as competition venues, Athlete Villages, Main Press Centre (MPC),ย International Broadcast Center (IBC),ย andย Press Conference Centerย (PCO).ย 
  • Monitor operational performance and provide regular workforce reports to leadership.ย 
  • Drive continuous improvement in workforceย utilization, engagement, and service quality.ย ย 
Background & Requirements:
  • ย 7+ย years ofย experience in staffing, scheduling, and deployment of both paid staff and volunteer workforces, ideally in complex or high-volume event environments.ย 
  • Demonstrated background in language services, translation/interpretation operations, or multilingual program management is strongly preferred.ย 
  • Experience managing volunteer programs end-to-end, including recruitment, vetting, credentialing, onboarding, and trainingย atย scale.ย 
  • Prior involvement in major sporting events, international events, or Olympic/Paralympic Games (or equivalent mega-events) is highly desirable.ย

Education:
  • Bachelor's degree or relevant work experienceย required, preferably in Linguistics, Translation/Interpretation, Human Resources, or a related field.ย ย 
  • Master's degreeย stronglyย preferred, particularly in Organizational Leadership, Applied Linguistics, Business, or a similar discipline that supports strategic workforce planning.ย 
  • Language industry-specific training or certifications (e.g., ATA, ISO 17100, localization project management credentials) areย advantageousย and signal familiarity with translation and interpretation standards.ย 
  • Strong knowledge of another language besides English is preferred.ย ย 
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
  • Ability to work on-site in Los Angeles, CA.ย ย 
  • Most work will be conducted in an office setting, requiring extended periods of time using computers, phones, and other office equipment.ย ย 
  • The LA28 office is an open floorplan working environment; employees must be able to work efficiently in an open cubicle environmentย 

The annual base salary range for this position is $105,000-$140,000. The pay scale provided is the range that LA28 reasonably expects to pay as starting base compensation for this role. All LA28 compensation remains subject to final determination based on individual candidate qualifications, experience, or other reasonable criteria consistent with LA28's operational business needs and applicable law.
