Job description

Assistant Football Coach
Reports To: Head Football Coach and Principal/Athletic Director
Position Summary
The Assistant Football Coach assists the Head Coach in planning, organizing, and supervising all aspects of the football program. The assistant coach helps promote student-athlete development, sportsmanship, academic success, and compliance with all Georgia High School Association (GHSA), district, and school regulations.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; college degree preferred
  • Valid Georgia teaching certificate preferred, if applicable
  • Previous coaching and/or playing experience in basketball preferred
  • Knowledge of GHSA rules and regulations
  • Ability to work effectively with students, staff, parents, and community members
  • Must successfully complete all required background checks and district training requirements
  • CPR, First Aid, and concussion training certification preferred or required by district policy
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assist the Head Coach with planning and conducting practices, workouts, and games
  • Help develop players' basketball fundamentals, teamwork, discipline, and sportsmanship
  • Supervise student-athletes during practices, games, travel, and other team activities
  • Assist with scouting, game preparation, and strategy implementation
  • Promote academic achievement and positive behavior among student-athletes
  • Ensure compliance with all GHSA, district, and school policies and procedures
  • Help maintain inventory, equipment, uniforms, and facilities
  • Assist with off-season conditioning and skill development programs as approved
  • Support efforts to promote the girls basketball program within the school and community
  • Maintain appropriate communication with parents, athletes, administration, and staff
  • Attend required meetings, clinics, and professional development activities
  • Assist in monitoring student-athlete eligibility and attendance requirements
  • Model professionalism, integrity, and ethical conduct at all times
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Head Coach, Athletic Director, or Principal
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand, walk, run, bend, and demonstrate athletic activities for extended periods
  • Ability to lift and carry equipment up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to travel for athletic events and activities
Terms of Employment
  • Length of employment and compensation shall be determined by the Calhoun County Board of Education salary schedule and supplemental coaching schedule
  • Employment is contingent upon satisfactory performance and continued program needs
Evaluation
Performance of this position will be evaluated annually by the Head Coach, Athletic Director, and/or Principal in accordance with district procedures.
