POSITION: Head Varsity Football Coach
Compensation: Stipend - $2,500 (Paid at Completion of Season)
CLOSING DATE: Open Until Filled
REPORTS TO: Athletic Director
Classification: Extra Duty
JOB SUMMARY
The Head Varsity Football Coach is responsible for leading and overseeing all aspects of the high school football program. The coach will promote sportsmanship, teamwork, discipline, leadership, academic achievement, and character development while developing student-athletes' football knowledge and athletic skills. Responsibilities include organizing practices, preparing athletes for competition, supervising assistant coaches and student-athletes, and ensuring compliance with district, league, AIA, and NFHS regulations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Plan, organize, and supervise all aspects of the varsity football program
  • Develop practice plans, game strategies, conditioning programs, and player development activities
  • Teach football fundamentals, sportsmanship, teamwork, discipline, and leadership skills
  • Supervise assistant coaches and student-athletes during practices, games, travel, and team activities
  • Promote academic accountability and positive behavior among student-athletes
  • Maintain communication with athletes, parents, administration, staff, and the athletic department
  • Coordinate team-building activities, fundraising, community service, and off-season programs
  • Ensure compliance with district, league, AIA, and NFHS rules and procedures
  • Utilize online athletic platforms such as HUDL, MaxPreps, and other required systems
  • Maintain equipment inventory and ensure proper care of facilities and uniforms
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by the Athletic Director and/or Administration

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Certificate verifying completion of the NFHS online Fundamentals of Coaching course or approved equivalent (AIA Rule 17.1)
  • Certificate verifying completion of the NFHS online Concussion in Sports - What You Need to Know course
  • Current CPR and First Aid Certification
  • Knowledge of football fundamentals, conditioning, safety procedures, and game strategy
  • Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively with students, staff, parents, and administration

OTHER REQUIREMENTS
  • Must be able to pass a fingerprint and background clearance check and obtain an IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card through AZDPS
  • Must possess or be able to obtain and maintain a valid Arizona driver's license
  • May be required to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and outside normal working hours
  • May be required to travel for competitions and team activities
