The Opportunity
The Director, Enterprise Internal Events leads Black & Veatch's enterprise wide internal event strategy, shaping high impact experiences that reinforce culture, amplify leadership priorities, and strengthen engagement across our global employee owner community. This role plays a critical part in shaping and delivering Black & Veatch's internal event strategy and serves as a hands on working director actively involved in planning, logistics, and execution.
This role reports directly to the Chief of Staff to the CEO, serving as a trusted advisor and strategic partner on events that support CEO level visibility, executive communication, and enterprise alignment. The Director brings exceptional professionalism, judgment, and executive presence, consistently delivering bestinclass event experiences that reflect the Black & Veatch brand.
This leader will collaborate broadly across the organization - including the CEO Office, Enterprise Marketing, Communications, HR, Operations, and Business Units - to ensure events are cohesive, innovative, and aligned with enterprise goals. The ideal candidate is highly agile, thrives in dynamic environments, and excels at managing complex programs with clarity, calm, and precision.
Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and lead Black & Veatch's enterprise level internal events strategy, ensuring alignment with organizational culture, priorities, and leadership expectations
  • Establish an annual enterprise events roadmap, event standards, and planning processes to ensure consistency and high quality execution
  • Serve as strategic advisor to the Chief of Staff and CEO Office on event strategy, messaging, and executive engagement opportunities
  • Serve as a key partner to the Chief of Staff to the CEO, aligning enterprise event strategy and execution with CEO level priorities
  • Collaborate extensively with Enterprise Marketing, Communications, HR, IT, Operations, and Business Units to ensure seamless end to end planning
  • Engage directly with senior executives with a high degree of professionalism
  • Maintain strong relationships across functions to anticipate needs, remove barriers, and elevate the quality of organizational events
  • Partner with Enterprise Marketing, Brand, and regional/external events teams to ensure consistency across internal and external touchpoints, reinforcing BV's brand experience
  • Align internal event standards with external conferences, client events, and sponsorship activations to create a unified, high level experience for executives and professionals
  • Develop shared operating tools - including run of show templates, production guidelines, AV standards, and executive briefing materials - to streamline coordination across teams.
  • Lead end to end planning and onsite execution of enterprise events, including leadership summits, town halls, workshops, recognition programs, and culture building events
  • Drive elevated production quality across staging, AV, media, and executive presentation formats
  • Oversee venue sourcing, contract negotiation, vendor partnerships, and all logistics planning
  • Continuously enhance events through innovative design, audience engagement strategies, and emerging technology
  • Own and manage event budgets, forecasts, procurement, and cost stewardship, ensuring transparent and responsible resource use
  • Create and improve scalable processes, workflows, and documentation that enhance planning efficiency and operational reliability
  • Establish success metrics and apply feedback and data to continuously evolve event strategy and execution
  • Leads, develops, and engages team members, fostering a high performance culture grounded in collaboration, accountability, and continuous growth
  • Coaches and invests in team capability, providing guidance, feedback, and development opportunities that strengthen skills and support long term career progression
  • Builds an inclusive, energizing team environment, promoting trust, open communication, and shared ownership of outcomes
  • Attracts, retains, and develops top talent, ensuring the enterprise events function has the right capabilities to support current needs and future strategic priorities
  • Manage relationships with vendors, production partners, facilitators, and venues; oversee contracting, performance, and service excellence
  • Demonstrate strong executive presence and discretion in all interactions
  • Operate effectively during peak periods and shifting priorities
  • Maintain flexible availability aligned to the enterprise events calendar (including select early mornings, evenings, or travel)
  • Anticipate needs, proactively resolve challenges, and ensure frictionless execution

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent experience
  • 10+ years progressive management experience in related areas
  • Industry experience

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, Hospitality, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 10+ years relevant experience in event design, event management, or enterprise level program operations.
  • Experience in team management, leadership or leading project teams.
  • 12+ years of progressive experience in corporate events, enterprise communications, or large scale program leadership.
  • Experience leading event strategy and production for large, complex, or Fortune level organizations.
  • Proven ability to collaborate with and present to all levels within the organization.
  • Strong ability to manage multiple large initiatives simultaneously with agility and precision.
  • Experience building and developing high performing teams.
  • Exceptional communication, professionalism and relationship building skills.
