Job Description
1.0 PURPOSE: As a member of the Product Development team, this role will have responsibility for all technical aspects of preparing a technical development plan, as well as, managing projects related to continuous improvement, process optimization, and cost savings. This position will work closely with Manufacturing Operations, Process Engineering, Tooling, Industrial Design, Design Engineers, Project Managers, R&D, and Product Line Management to develop technical plans for next generation products and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
2.0 RESPONSIBILITIES:
2.1 Use caution and support facility systems to assure safety event free facilities.
2.2 Respond to any emergency or potential emergency following established procedures.
2.3 Observe, respond and report any instance of safety, product, service, or quality systems non-conformity.
2.4 Security diligence: maintain control of key cards, prevent unauthorized entry to facilities by non-Amcor employees, and proper maintenance / security of Amcor equipment.
2.5 Successfully complete Primary Duties and additional responsibilities as outlined in 4.0 and associated training.
3.0 AUTHORITIES, including but not limited to:
3.1 Pause activity and notify Safety lead in any facility regarding instances of potentially unsafe work environments or employee and supplier practices.
3.2 Initiate action to prevent occurrences of any non-conformity of safety, product, service or quality systems.
3.3 Initiate, recommend or provide solutions through designated channels.
3.4 Suggest actions for continual improvement to safety, products, processes, facilities or systems and verify the implementation of solutions.
4.0 PRIMARY DUTIES, including but not limited to:
4.1 Coordinate the Technical Development Plan that outlines all the details necessary for the Product Line Manager to respond to a Request for Quote and/or create a Business Case,
including all cost inputs, capital equipment costs, and evaluation of the costs and technologies required for the development and manufacturing.
4.2 Lead cross-functional teams consisting of plant operations, tooling, process engineering, machine, automation, etc., to find ways to optimize processes and improve operational efficiencies.
4.3 Has responsibility for execution of the project plan and driving decisions to deliver the project on time, within budget, and within scope.
4.4 Responsible for oversight of any engineering changes or product design changes related to optimizing the manufacturing process.
4.5 Lead technical communication with vendors and/or internal stakeholders.
4.6 Responsible for reporting deviations on time, cost, and deliverable project components to senior management as project progresses.
4.7 Responsible for adherence to Amcor, industry, and/or regulatory procedures as well as Management of Change, Stage Gate, and ISO processes.
4.8 Support Customers, Manufacturing and Quality as the technical expert on product maintenance and Continuous Improvement Opportunities (CIO's)
5.0 QUALIFICATIONS / EDUCATION REQUIRED:
5.1 Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent experience
5.2 Knowledge in statistical methods and programs (SPC/DOE/MiniTab)
5.3 Ability to travel as needed (20-50%)
6.0 PREFERRED SKILLS / EXPERIENCE:
6.1 Experience with plastic manufacturing platforms i.e. injection molding, blow molding, etc
6.2 Excellent verbal and written communication skills
6.3 Self-motivated and assertive individual
6.4 Ability to prioritize, multi-task, be a proactive thinker, and be results-oriented
6.5 Project Management experience a plus
6.6 Strong organizational skills with proven ability to complete multiple tasks simultaneously
6.7 Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are required for data driven decision
