Location: Providence, RI, 02908

Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Teacher Assistant to join our Rhode Island State Pre-K program in Providence, RI. The Teacher Assistant will support lead teachers in creating a nurturing and educational environment for young children, helping to foster their early development and readiness for school.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist lead teachers in implementing daily lesson plans and activities.
  • Support children’s social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development.
  • Help maintain a safe, clean, and organized classroom environment.
  • Engage with children to encourage positive behavior and learning.
  • Communicate effectively with teachers, families, and staff.
  • Participate in professional development and training as required.
Required Qualifications
  • Documentation of a high school diploma OR general equivalency (GED).
  • At the time of employment, documentation of one of the following OR an individual professional development plan (not to exceed 2 years from the date of employment) to achieve one of the following:
    • Successful completion of a Teacher Assistant Training Program approved by the Rhode Island Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.
    • A minimum of 12 credit hours of college coursework relevant to the early childhood education program setting.
    • A Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential PLUS nine credit hours of college coursework relevant to the early childhood education program setting.
