SUMMARY OF POSITION

The Destination & Marketing Intelligence Manager supports Destination Cleveland's Insights & Analytics function by expanding capacity for data-informed decision-making across the organization and facilitating progress measurement toward strategic plan KPIs. This role applies technical and analytical expertise to gather, organize, and interpret information that informs strategies and initiatives. 

Working with teams across the organization (Marketing, Sales & Services, Destination Management, and Operations), this role leads and contributes to a range of insights activities, including maintaining dashboards and reporting, preparing and structuring datasets for analysis, supporting research initiatives, and guiding the collection and synthesis of feedback from visitors, partners, and stakeholders. 

The Manager supports efforts such as surveys, focus groups, and on-the-ground interviews, while also coordinating with external vendors and partners to ensure research and data-related projects are executed effectively. This role works across data platforms (i.e. CRM systems, web analytics tools, and tourism data sources) to connect and organize information from multiple inputs to support meaningful analysis. 

Success in this position requires strong technical problem-solving skills, sound judgment in working with complex or evolving data sources, and the ability to independently move projects forward. The role also identifies opportunities to leverage emerging tools, including AI-enabled solutions, to improve reporting workflows, streamline analysis, and enhance insight generation. 

By ensuring information is well organized, accessible, and clearly communicated, this role helps translate data and feedback into insights that support Destination Cleveland's strategies and initiatives. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  •  Maintain dashboards and reporting tools including Power BI, Looker, or similar business intelligence platforms 
  •  Produce recurring and ad hoc reports used by internal teams, leadership, and external partners 
  •  Support reporting and analysis needs across Marketing, Sales & Services, Destination Management, and Operations, helping to move projects forward and ensure timely delivery of insights 
  •  Partner with teams across the organization to understand reporting needs, identify relevant data sources, and ensure outputs align with business context 
  •  Summarize and translate findings from data analysis, research activities, and feedback collection into clear, actionable insights for reporting and presentations 
  •  Prepare charts, visualizations, and summaries that clearly communicate key findings and support decision-making 
  •  Support development and implementation of surveys or feedback tools that help teams collect consistent, usable information 
  •  Assist with qualitative research activities such as focus groups, interviews, and visitor feedback collection, including synthesis and summary of key themes 
  •  Coordinate with external vendors and partners, as needed, to support data collection, research efforts, and project execution 
  •  Gather, organize, and combine data from multiple platforms, research studies, CRM systems, web analytics tools, and tourism data sources to support reporting and analysis 
  •  Structure, prepare, and maintain datasets used for dashboards, reporting, and deeper analysis 
  •  Develop efficient methods for extracting, processing, and integrating data from multiple systems using tools such as APIs, scripting, automation tools, and other emerging technologies in collaboration with IT and digital marketing teams 
  •  Ensure reporting insights are accurate, consistently updated, and clearly documented, maintaining definitions and processes to support consistency across reports 
  •  Improve processes used to gather, organize, and analyze data to reduce manual effort and increase efficiency through automation and improved workflows 
  •  Translate business questions and reporting needs into structured datasets, dashboards, and analytical approaches that support ongoing monitoring and deeper analysis 
  •  Assist the Director of Insights & Analytics with research projects, analysis, and reporting initiative 
  •  Support organizational data governance efforts. Partner with business owners across the organization to define business metrics, reporting standards, and analytical requirements that support consistent use of data for decision-making and performance measurement. 
  •  Perform other duties as assigned

REQUIREMENTS 

  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.

  • Basic Knowledge of NE Ohio and its assets. 
  • Ability to collaborate with others & understand stakeholder needs. 
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work with incomplete or fragmented datasets to produce usable analysis 
  • Ability to independently gather, structure, and connect data from multiple platforms and systems 
  • Comfortable working with technical tools used for data extraction, processing, or automation (e.g., APIs, scripting tools, advanced spreadsheet techniques, or similar tools) 

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION

  • Bachelor's degree in analytics, statistics, economics, marketing analytics, business intelligence, or a related field 
  • 3-5 years of experience working with analytics, reporting, or business intelligence 
  • Experience working with analytics platforms, CRM systems, or web analytics tools such as GA4 
  • Experience building dashboards using Power BI, Looker, Tableau, or similar visualization tools 
  • Experience gathering and organizing data from multiple sources 
  • Strong data organization and data preparation skills 
  • Ability to clearly communicate insights through visualizations and written summaries 

Preferred:

  • Experience using Python for data analysis 
  • Experience working with tourism, travel, or economic data 
  • Experience combining and processing data from multiple platforms or systems 
  • Experience automating or improving reporting workflows 
  • Experience working with APIs, data connectors, or automation tools
