Leaning on more than a decade of vertical integration of quantum hardware, we are leveraging a comprehensive pool of quantum technology and micro-electronic infrastructure to deploy our quantum computing technology.

Our current needs

As we scale up our quantum processors and supporting infrastructure, we are seeking a skilled and self-driven Mechanical Designer to join our Mechanical Design and Manufacturing Team. This role focuses on the CAD of the cryogenic dilution refrigerators setups, precision design of 3D qubit assemblies and structural and thermal analysis of these systems.

Key responsibilities:

  • Develop CAD of 3D cavity qubits and GD&T drawings, ensuring mechanical precision and manufacturability.
  • Explore mechanical elements of designs and manufacturing techniques in cavity designs to improve the repeatability of assembly.
  • Design and develop assembly procedures and fixtures for precise assembly of nanofabricated chips.
  • Design and document the cryogenic setups for dilution refrigerator systems.
  • Conduct structural and thermal analysis on the cryogenic setup to support the payload and thermal performance, analytically and numerically.
  • Support the organization of CAD libraries, revision control systems, and documentation to support long-term system scaling and reproducibility.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams (Design, Quantum Hardware, and Nanofabrication) to iterate on designs.
  • Coordinate with external vendors, suppliers, and development partners to support machining, sourcing, and integration activities.

This is a dynamic role within a fast-paced, research-driven environment, offering the opportunity to contribute directly to the advancement of scalable quantum hardware.

Education and experience requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree (BSc) or Master’s degree (MSc) in Mechanical Engineering or in related field with minimum 2 years of mechanical design experience.
  • Must have R&D industry experience, preferably within scientific instrumentation, cryogenic, space instrumentation, semiconductor industries, with a proven track record in interdisciplinary teams.

Sought expertise and knowledge:

  • Experience in CAD modeling and assembly design for precision mechanical systems, using Solidworks, Onshape or other advanced CAD software
  • Demonstrated ability to optimize designs for repeatability in assembly
  • Experience with revision control and documentation of CAD
  • Familiarity with Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFM/DFA) principles
  • Excellent ability to deliver results within tight deadlines
  • Experience with stress and thermal analysis using FEA simulation software
  • Advanced level in English, to communicate with team members
  • Intermediate knowledge of French an asset
