Idealease General Manager

Department: Idealease Operations

Reports To: Idealease Principal

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced, results-driven Idealease General Manager to lead the overall performance, growth, and profitability of our Full-Service Lease (FSL) and Rental operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving revenue growth, achieving profitability targets, leading sales and service teams, developing strategic business plans, and ensuring exceptional customer satisfaction.ย 

This leadership position requires a strong business operator who can balance sales growth, financial performance, customer retention, asset management, and employee development while maintaining a culture of teamwork and accountability.ย 

Key Responsibilities
Business Leadership & Financial Performance
  • Generate a minimum of 10% net profit within the Full-Service Lease and Rental portfolio.ย 
  • Drive profitable growth in accordance with established business plans and forecasts.ย 
  • Develop and execute annual business plans, budgets, sales forecasts, and quarterly financial projections.ย 
  • Review financial and operating statements regularly and implement corrective actions as needed.ย 
  • Maintain strong internal controls to safeguard company assets.
  • Manage overhead and maintain targeted overhead per vehicle performance metrics.ย 
Sales & Customer Development
  • Lead, coach, and motivate the sales team to secure new business opportunities.ย 
  • Develop and implement marketing plans and go-to-market strategies aligned with company objectives.ย 
  • Establish performance goals, quotas, and accountability measures for sales personnel.ย 
  • Approve contracted Full-Service Lease and Dedicated Maintenance business opportunities.ย 
  • Support key account development and participate in major sales opportunities when required.ย 
  • Maintain regular communication with large fleet lease and rental customers to ensure satisfaction and retention.
Operations & Asset Management
  • Develop and maintain operating policies and procedures that support company objectives.ย 
  • Ensure facilities, vehicles, signage, and company assets are maintained to company standards.
  • Recruit, hire, develop, and retain employees as business needs require.ย 
  • Foster a positive culture of cooperation, teamwork, and professionalism across the Idealease operation and dealership.ย 
Service & Maintenance Leadership
  • Lead and support the Idealease Service Manager in delivering cost-effective maintenance operations and exceptional customer service.ย 
  • Monitor maintenance costs, targeting maintenance expenses below 20% of revenue.ย 
  • Review staffing requirements and scheduling needs with service leadership.ย 
  • Oversee inventory management for parts, tires, lubricants, and fuel.ย 
  • Monitor warranty utilization and recovery efforts.ย 
  • Review monthly financial and operational performance with the Service Manager and initiate improvement plans where necessary.ย 
  • Continually assess and improve customer service performance and operational efficiency.ย 
Qualifications
Required
  • Proven leadership experience in fleet management, transportation, leasing, trucking, dealership operations, or a related industry.
  • Strong financial acumen with the ability to manage budgets, forecasts, profitability, and operational performance.
  • Demonstrated success in sales leadership, business development, and customer relationship management.
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams and developing high-performance cultures.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel locally as required.
Preferred
  • Experience with Full-Service Leasing, Commercial Truck Rental, Dedicated Maintenance, or Heavy-Duty Truck Operations.
  • Knowledge of fleet maintenance practices and lifecycle cost management.
  • Experience working with Idealease, International, or commercial transportation organizations.
Key Performance Measures (KPIs)

Success in this role will be measured by:

  • Maintaining customer retention and conducting customer visits at least every 120 days.
  • Managing a contract-to-rental vehicle ratio of approximately 4:1 or 5:1.
  • Maintaining a rental fleet average age of less than two years.
  • Achieving the targeted overhead per vehicle metrics.
  • Meeting or exceeding annual business plan profit objectives.
