Position Overview

The Data Communication & Training Coordinator develops and delivers data literacy and training programs to strengthen workforce capabilities across IDPH and local health departments. This role conducts training needs assessments, facilitates workshops and webinars, and continuously improves learning experiences based on feedback and evaluation. In addition, the position supports communication and outreach for Data Modernization Initiative (DMI) efforts by creating clear, engaging content and materials that promote understanding of data initiatives, tools, and public health modernization activities.

Essential Functions
  • Conduct training sessions, workshops, and webinars both in-person and virtually.
  • Create and manage data related content utilizing multiple channels, including newsletters, blog posts, social media messages, and internal communications.
  • Develop and execute data training and literacy Plan.   
  • Collaborate with data and non-data staff to create data related communication strategies. 
  • Seek out and participate in trainings, workshops, conferences, or other options for continued education.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Requires a Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, public relations, education, with demonstrable applicability.
  • Requires three (3) years of professional experience in content creation and management.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Three (3)years of experience as a training coordinator, training specialist, or in a similar role.
  • Three (3) years of experience with e-learning platforms and training software. 
  • Thorough knowledge of adult learning principles and instructional design.
  • Certification in communication or public relations.
  • One (1) year experience communicating both verbally and in writing. 
  • Three (3) years of experience with content creation tools and software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office). 
Conditions of Employment
  • Requires ability to travel in the performance of duties.
  • Requires appropriate, valid driver’s license.
  • Requires use of an agency supplied mobile phone.
