Job Summary
Purdue University's Data Governance team is seeking a detail-oriented, collaborative Data Governance Analyst to support the development, coordination, and ongoing management of the university's enterprise data governance framework. This role is essential in advancing data stewardship, data quality, and responsible data use across the institution.
Working closely with the Data Governance Lead, the analyst will help manage and document the projects and operations of the Executive Data Council, Purdue's primary data governance body. The role also includes coordinating with a stakeholders across the university to support shared governance goals and ensure alignment on enterprise data initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
Governance Structure Support
  • Assist the Data Governance Lead in managing the operations and activities of the Executive Data Council
  • Coordinate and attend council and committee meetings, ensuring accurate documentation of discussions, decisions, and action items
  • Draft meeting agendas, summaries, minutes, and follow-up communications
  • Track governance initiatives, timelines, and deliverables to support effective oversight and accountability

Cross-Functional Coordination
  • Support efforts to coordinate data stakeholders to advance enterprise data governance goals
  • Facilitate communication and alignment across units to ensure consistent understanding of governance expectations, standards, and priorities
  • Help monitor progress on shared initiatives and assist in removing barriers to collaboration

Documentation & Reporting
  • Develop and maintain documentation related to data governance policies, standards, procedures, and workflows
  • Draft outcome reports, project summaries, and other written materials that communicate progress and results of data governance initiatives
  • Create clear, accessible materials that help campus stakeholders understand data governance processes and responsibilities

Project & Operational Support
  • Assist with data governance projects, including data quality assessments, metadata initiatives, and stewardship activities
  • Support cross-functional collaboration with technical teams, business units, and academic partners
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of governance processes, tools, and communication practices

What We're Looking For:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Communications, Business or Data Analytics, Social Sciences, Library and Information Sciences, Education or a related field
  • Two or more years of experience in organizational communications, business administration, data analytics, library and information sciences, sociology, public policy, education, technical writing or another related field.
  • Ability to simplify complex concepts and deliver effective messages to a variety of end users
  • Excellent written communication skills, with the ability to produce clear, structured, and accurate documentation
  • Demonstrated ability working with cross-organization leadership
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to coordinate work across diverse stakeholder groups and manage multiple priorities
  • Interest in data governance

What Is Helpful:

  • Familiarity with federal and state regulations (i.e. FERPA, GLBA, HIPAA)
